Not to steal the topic idea from a CC board member but I wanted to try this in an area where it might get more responses:

Who's your favorite NPC's/villains in gaming. Who's your least favorite?

~Favorites~

Brave Fencer Musashi: Citizens of Grillin' Village/Allucaneet Palace
Everyone you're forced into contact in this game really pulls you into the story, even the insignificant ones.

Final Fantasy VI: General Leo
Falls into the "no crap" category even though he gets pwned by Kefka despite the awesome power of Shock.

Final Fantasy VI: Kefka
Still cool even though he kills an entire kingdom by poisoning their water supply.

Mega Man: Dr. Wily
Who doesn't look forward to punching Wily's ticket at the end of any given title of the original series? - unless it's his psycho form in MM7 because settling/dealing with one form of torture (freezing, shocking or igniting you) wouldn't be fun enough.

Mega Man Legends: The Bonnes (Teisel, Bon, Tron and the Servbots)
Bad guys that aren't completely heartless are easy to love... this goes double for the Bonnes.

Mega Man X4: Repliforce (Iris, Colonel, General) & Magma Dragoon
The members of Repilforce and Dragoon aren't really evil as much as they are misinformed and manipulated. I actually feel a tinge of regret when I "delete" them.

Wild Arms: The Metal Demons (Zeikfried, Belselk, Alhazad, Lady Harken, Boomerang, Mother, Zed)
Granted Zed is playable in the remake, but they pretty much robbed the characters of any and all soul with the crappy translation so I don't count it. Simply some of the coolest villains EVER in my book! Also, I refuse to call Belselk Berserk even though those l's really should be r's. Berserk is such a stupid name for a bad guy.

Wild Arms 2: Irving Vold Valeria
Let's face it, outside Ashley Winchester/Knightblazer, Kanon and Brad, the enigma surrounding Irving was what made WA2's story so great!

~Somewhere in the Middle~

Xenogears: Graft
You have to admit the fact he would show up at the WORST possible time and supercharge your enemy or take your gears on barefisted was annoying yet cool.

Mega Man X: Sigma
Oh lord just DIE already... but then he's the kind of bad guy you love to hate >_>

~Least Favorite~

Mega Man Zero 2: Elpizo
Don't even get me started on this lame-brain loser...

Star Ocean Till the End of Time: Luther
Not even his Japanese name (Lucifer) makes him cool.

Samurai Legend Musashi: Mandrake Enterprises
<yawn> give me the Thirstquencher Empire anyday

Man, I hate polls like these, cos I know I ALWAYS forget a bunch of really good ones, but here goes anyway.

LEAST Favorite:

- Any goddamn NPC that gets in my way when I try to go through a door in a village. It's especially fun in games where the makers DID take this into account by programming NPC's to start walking faster when you bump into them but then they just keep walking into a wall so that you still can't pass. Good times.

- Any bad guy that is revealed on the last disc/last hour of the game or so. Ultemicia, Garland, Evon Ju or whatever, the list is quite long. How am I supposed to have ANY kind of feelings towards a Bad Guy if he's not around for the majority of the game? By contrast, Edea, Kuja and Sin were MUCH better.

MOST Favorite:

- I agree with all your Megaman choices, except that I didn't give a damn about Repliforce.

- FFVII: Sephiroth: best get the most obvious answers out of the way, since you already got Kefka. I myself prefer the villain with a motive rather than one that just kills and destroys for the Heck of it, plus, Phallic Swords are cool. And Phallic.

- Organization XIII. I'm sorry! I'm a sucker for mysterious men in black cloaks! It helps that the Japanese Organization has very specific recognisable voices and REALLY good voice acting for every separate member, WAY better than the English versions. Also, KH just has one of the most interesting and epically built up stories I've seen for a while in a Japanese video game. Can't wait to see where it's going to turn next.

- The final bad guy in Shadow Hearts Covenant: I can't remember his name at the moment, and thatt's probably best for those who haven't played it yet. Like I said, bad guys with a motive are so much better than two-dimensional evil guys, even if this guy reacted rather extreme to his circumstances. I love it when a game makes you actually feel sorry for the bad guy instead of just hating him, and SHC pulls that off perfectly. The supporting cast of bad guys is really cool too!

- Pyramid Head: I mean. COME ON!
See also: Phallic Sword.

My favourite villain would have to be evil in general. Without evil there would be no good in the VG world or storylines in the games.

Seriously though, hmmmm.... you may not know this but I REALLY like Rundas at the moment. He is the second most, convertible from Metroid to SSBB, Metroid character, second that is to Samus.

The campaigner from Turok just screamed "VIOLENCE", so cool.
Wolf O'Donnell is another fave. Better than Fox in every regard. Sturm from Advance Wars. I've just pwned the world (BURNING EARTH! METEOR STRIKE!). Aww crap I've just realised he's not a NPC.
Mizar from JFG ROCKS. The best game Rare ever made.
Nemesis for being so damn persistant.
Gilgamesh from FFV for entertainment value.

On the other side of the coin, I agree Elpizo is lame.
I suppose this isn't really a character but Cheese Bridge and Tubular from Super Mario World really sucked.

Lastly I'd have to say Titan Dweevil from Pikmin 2. I don't know whether to love or hate that guy.

Agree on Ultemicia and Garland, the only thing that I liked about Garland was the shock when I first saw he shared the name of the FF1 villain, outside that... eh. Never understood the allure of Kuja as a villain though.

LOL, the way you phrased that was great, my sides hurt.

I CANNOT BELIEVE I FORGOT THIS!

Ephidel from Fire Emblem : Sword of Flame. Callous, devoid of emotion, androgenous and probably soulless. My kind of weirdo:o

Fav Villain:  Jon Irenicus (Baldur's Gate II)
Garland (Final Fantasy 1) -- first video game villain I ever encountered, as FF1 was the first video game I ever played. He was never able to knock me and my crew down.

Least fav Villain: Seymour & Yu Yevon (Final Fantasy X). I don't have many positive things to say about FFX. Pretty anti-climatic/boring/annoying all around.
