I placed an order with these guys recently and I don't I've ever had as much fun reading the confirmation email as I did with them:

"Your CDs have been gently taken from our CD Baby shelves with
sterilized contamination-free gloves and placed onto a satin pillow.

A team of 50 employees inspected your CDs and polished them to make
sure they were in the best possible condition before mailing.

Our packing specialist from Japan lit a candle and a hush fell over
the crowd as he put your CDs into the finest gold-lined box that money
can buy.

We all had a wonderful celebration afterwards and the whole party
marched down the street to the post office where the entire town of
Portland waved "Bon Voyage!" to your package, on its way to you, in
our private CD Baby jet on this day, Saturday, December 1st.

I hope you had a wonderful time shopping at CD Baby.  We sure did.
Your picture is on our wall as "Customer of the Year."  We're all
exhausted but can't wait for you to come back to CDBABY.COM!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Sigh..."

Can't say any online store has done anything that can top that.

Gotta love CD Baby's emails.  Don't forget the initial automated confirmation:

"CD Baby loves Angela"

"Thanks for your order with CD Baby!

This is just a happy automated email to let you know a real person will email you as soon as your package is sent, and you will also receive a paper receipt with your order in the mail."

And their subscription newsletter cancellation message:

"Derek Sivers, president, CD Baby.  If you never want to hear from me again, it's OK.  Just go to this link to say so: ***"

Reminds me of the billbaord in Futurama that says "Mom babies your package."

That's cute, but nothing tops Kahori's hand written notes.

Is it wierd that I look forward to seeing her smile faces on my invoices?

Hopefully you guys are keeping the "this artist sounds like these guys" part, which I found interesting. Finding independent 80's-inspired rock wasn't nearly as hard as I thought it'd be, but it seemed everyone I looked at had Motley Crue listed an influence. That kind of made my searches take awhile especially with the samples, but it was fun. ;p

I was surprised to find out the remaining members of a Maryland band called Kix had gotten back together and were surprisingly active, so that's how I found the CdBaby site (linked through Kix's Myspace). So I guess I should plug Funny Money...But I also scored some others that caught my eye and I'd never heard of (Haven, Dirty Penny and Kristin Glasgow)

LOL, I love CD Baby. I actually sent their auto-confirmation emailer a reply once:

You don't have to answer this, but I just wanted to say this is by far the funniest confirmation email I've ever been sent. (And I shop online a lot.)

Keep it up!

Charlie

... To which I got a reply, haha:

awww, I'm glad you love it, Charlie!

Hope we made a good impression and can see ya back here more often, eh?

Seriously though, thanks for the positive feedback, it means a lot to
all of us here.

:-)
