Happy New Year, everyone!  Any plans tonight?  (Or last night, if you're reading this on 1/1?)  Any proposed new year's resolutions?

Me, went to a farewell/new year's party at work earlier in the day.  Home now, about to crack open my Seinfeld Season Nine set with a plate of leftover roast duck and Hong Kong style pan-fried noodles I had in Chinatown last night.  (My drink of choice to ring in the new year?  Arizona Raspberry Iced Tea!)  Plan to skip over to "The Dealership" and "The Betrayal" episodes first, which are two of my personal favorites.  Likely be in bed by midnight, even though I have the day off tomorrow.  Not too shabby, I do declare. ;p

New year's resolutions?  More outdoors exercise for me, like running and blading.  l also wanted to take another tennis course, a sport I haven't played in years.  I'm planning on getting my motorcycle license.  Gonna try to purge my movie and video game collection down to the must-keep faves only; my movie collection in particular has become quite unwieldly.  Ditto my soundtrack collection, though that one's just more of an organization issue.  I seriously need some new CD racks.... just take a look at my "work desk" these days; it's littered with CDs I admittedly just rip, drop off, and forget about.  Even got some from last year in there, too. o_O

My resolution is to werk harder on my writing efforts and also to try harder to Tempt Not The Fates.

Have you played through the JPN version of MGS2 (not SUBSTANCE, the voice acting is back in English) yet Angela?

My tradition is sushi on New Year's Eve and Chinese food on New Year's Day.  Tonight I had a Rainbow Roll, Alaskan Roll, Rock 'N Roll, Salmon Sushi, Eel Sushi, Sweet Shrimp Sushi, a few bits of another person's Avocado Roll they couldn't finish, Miso Soup, and about a half of a bottle of cold, dry sake.  For dessert, vanilla yogurt, fortune cookies, and chocolate-covered hazelnuts.

Also, the only reason I was able to eat so much for dinner is because I had a tiny breakfast and an even smaller lunch to make sure I'd have room for a right proper meal. :-)

No resolutions for me.  If I find opportunities to improve myself this year, I'll take them, but no commitments to anything specific at this point.

Yeah, Happy fuckin' New Year.

I had to work. Last day at my current place of employment, too. f---ing co-workers tried to pull some cheap-ass pranks on me as part of some ritual they got down there for people leaving. So it came to pass that I found myself ambushed as I go downstairs to change, and sprayed the f--- down with motherfucking whipped cream. Later, to apologize, f---ing guys bought me a New Year's drink as an apology, only that was laced with tabasco sauce. Everyone who isn't me is an asshole. >:(

All said and done, though, Happy New Year. I sound more bitter (Bitterer? Bittier?) than I really am. smile

I couldn't imagine spending New Year's alone at home.   I don't think I've ever made a New Year's resolution, it always seemed pointless to wait till the new year to do something I could be doing now.  Anyways, '08 has been great so far, met a chic that is actually normal, has a brain, works out, doesn't have baggage, and is sexy to boot.  This year just might not suck.

SonicPanda Jan 1, 2008

A happy '08 to all for as long as it lasts (read: until political campaigning ne plus ultra and NBC's half-assed, jingostic Summer Olympic coverage drain the joy from people's lives). I'm working New Year's (and really shouldn't be up at 3:30 here, but whatever), though I have Friday and Saturday to make up for it, which is nice. You'd better believe one of those days belongs to Mario.

Resolutions? I've given up my annual beat-a-game-a-month resolution as fool's gold (partly because of time, but partly because many of the games I tried to beat this year didn't really generate enough interest to sustain the effort; why bother fighting against tedium with FFXII when the best part - the cutscenes - are readily and painlessly available at YouTube on demand?) and instead taken more modest goals, such as finally getting the rest of my room unpacked and sorted properly. Yup, twelve months oughta do it.
Other, more frivolous resolutions include getting one more PS1 title to hit the century mark and catching up on 2D fighters I've neglected since my fanatical period around the turn of the century.

...and maybe working to finish a game a month. Again. I'm such a tool.

Doesn't have baggage? LoL just wait and see!!

Actually, I was planning to stay home and do nothing out of the ordinary but I called up some friends in the neighboring town and got together - I'm glad we did, after playing some wii (first time I’ve even touched it or any of the current consoles) we ate some pizza, sipped at some brew and played their &^%*ed up version of rummy until 4 a.m. It wasn't a blow out but it was definitely more entertaining that what I would have done otherwise. A shame I had to leave so early this morning as to avoid the incoming inclement weather that's sweeping the east coast.

Happy new year! *tosses ...confetti. Just regular confetti. ^_~ *

I actually had the day off, so I went to my cousin's house first then came back for the party that was literally smokin' back at home. I personally didn't pop as many fireworks this year as last year, but my bro and his friends painted the road red.

My main resolution? That's personal. ^_~ Hope you all have a great 2008!

Wanderer Jan 1, 2008

I spent the entire eve with my best friend. We played Wii, 360, computers and then watched fireworks while drinking cider. It was actually pretty sedate. wink

Ain't that the truth?  Remember the old adage, "If it looks to good to be true, it always is."

Shoebonics Jan 2, 2008

EVERYONE has baggage, to say one shining-special person who's currently the appel (sic) of yer eye has no baggage whatsoever is just plain silly.

Not trying to be nasty, but it's the god's-honest truth.

Carl Jan 2, 2008

Yep, Happy 2008 to everyone!

A japanese-y phrase seems in order...
"Let's do our best and improve our service!"

Zane Jan 2, 2008

When the ball dropped here on the east coast I was driving home blasting iFuturelist. So, yeah. That was the best beginning of any year ever so far for me, although playing GTA Vice City back in 2002/3 was a pretty solid one, too.

I'd like to share one of the motivational e-mails that I get daily from work. This is the one that came across yesterday.

Today is the day to begin. This new year is a blank canvas upon which you have the delightful opportunity to paint.

As you do, be authentic. Your greatest accomplishments are the ones that contain the greatest quantity of you.

Be innovative and creative. The challenges you face will melt away when you apply fresh, original thinking to them.

Remember not to take yourself too seriously. You'll climb much higher when you're thoroughly enjoying the effort.

As you move forward, do so with genuine and persistent integrity. That way, the results you create will be results that are actually worth attaining.

Today you stand at the beginning of a grand adventure, with the very real and present opportunity to shape this year into the best one ever. Begin now, take the initiative, and never stop living life according to who you know you are.

With that, I want to wish everyone a happy, safe and enjoyable new year! I can already tell that this is going to be a good one - at least as far as new VGM is concerned. tongue

(Side note: if anyone is interested in other daily motivational e-mails, I have them forwarded to me from this site.)

My resolution: Lay waste to the bullshit and continue to discover what's important and who I am. 2007 was a start...2008 is going to be better (and I've never had a bad even-numbered year, so things are looking up for me).

No doubt, I'm just talkin like no kids, not divorced, no ex tried to kill them, you know, the stuff that comes with the chics I usually meet.

Dude, I can see this one working in YOUR favor. Lay your life on the line and say you'll protect her. I mean, what are the odds you'll meet a knife/gun-wielding maniac IRL. ;p

But...seriously?

Nemo Jan 3, 2008

Seriously, long story.  Plus she's still young and immature, cute little thing though, but we're better off friends.
