my wife showed this to me.
It's that propaganda game given out by the Army to nerdy kids in an attempt to sucker them into signing up. The game was developed by the US Army. Which is why this story was able to receive mainstream press coverage. I was hoping the story would be about Trauma Center ... but that'd be bad cuz that's like "Antibiotic ointment healz all!!!! ftw!"
Word.
PS - not busting on the US military, per se. Just their recruiting tactics...

True true... it is propaganda, but still if it can actually teach people something of real value, which obviously it can since that guy used what he learned to help save the victim's life, then it can't be half bad! In fact, I wouldn't mind learning some first aid myself! Anyone know of a good way to learn first aid?

Yea, I agree with you avatar. I hardly agree with these guys' propagandistic tactics, but if at least a few peoples' lives were saved, even I have to put my head down and give credit where its due.
As for where to learn... perhaps some classes at a community college?
Anyone know of a good way to learn first aid?
To be certified in First Aid, CPR, and an AED device, just contact your local fire department or EMS. They do free trainings on regular dates. I've had to go through it 3 times because of the type of jobs I've worked, but I think anyone can go. Just call and ask. The certification lasts one to two years.
Speaking of ... the kid who did the First Aid using what he learned from an Army game ... I'm glad all worked out well! BUT, if it didn't work and the victim's family argued that it (the attempted first aid) did more damage to the person, he could've been sued for attempting First Aid without certified training. That's the point of certification.
But I'm being a super-pessimist. Thanks for reporting avatar!, it's a good story.
