Hey everyone,

I am in a little bit of a dilemma. I have the North American version of the Wii (what version is this? I know it is not the PAL version. Is it the NTSC version?). I ordered a game from the UK under the impression that Wiis all over the world were compatible - however I just received the game and it does not work. Upon further investigation I realized that there are 2 different versions that are not compatible (probably should have figured this out before I bought it!). So I am now stuck with a game that doesn't work, and a store that has the most horrendous customer service I have ever encountered.

Is there anything I can do about this? Is there some type of converter that makes PAL games compatible with the system that I have?

Thanks for the help.

Hmmm... I don't think there's any easy converter. There was something - an early mod chip I think, but I don't think it works with more recent games. Really not sure.

Sorry I can't be of more help. If it's any consolation, you're far better off with a US Wii. UK releases are usually stupidly late, if they come out at all, and the VC games run better on the US Wii too. You can order US games from many places like videogamesplus.ca or tronixweb.com or ncsx.com and many more.

I can't help much either, but if your Wii is from the Americas, it is an NTSC Wii.   There are three versions worldwide really, PAL for Europe/Australia/NZ, NTSC(U/C) for the Americas, and NTSC(J) for Japan and the Sinosphere.  Console games are locked from playing in the region they are not intended to be sold in.

Thanks a lot for the help!

I guess we will try to return it and see what happens!

If you can't return it, like because you opened it, just sell it online.  You might have to eat some loss, but its better than nothing.
