Album in question here: http://www.vgmworld.com/catalog/index.p … tem_num=24

I'm not finding audio samples or downloads of this anywhere (the links on Cocoe's site seem to be broken), so do we have any "Yack" fans out there who have this album, and are willing to tell me more about it, other than that it's a remix album for Border Down?

Anything in particular about it that makes it good or bad? What should I expect? Are the tracks only vaguely remixed, or have they been dramatically remixed from the originals?

It's not a remix album. As the description at VGM World says: "Contains the Remix Mode which was used for the consumer version of the game, and new tracks by the composer -Yack- with the complete version! (These tracks are not on the previous Border Down Soundtrack)." It contains the tracks exclusive to the Dreamcast version ("consumer version"), some of which (5, 6, 10, and 13 and 14, which are not listed in the book but are present on the CD) are arranged from the first OST. The mixes all stick quite close to the originals; mostly just sound upgrades. The other nine tracks were written specifically for the DC version.

Vol.2 is a little more varied in style than the first, with stuff like the harmonica/guitar action in Purple Town and jazz jam session that is Sheffield Shaffle (<3333), but it's all distinctly Yack, and if you like the first, I don't really see any way to dislike the second. Especially with the five mixed tracks. Dragon God did a mini review at CC, hey with samples neat.

Ah, you have to click the link for the review before you can see the links for the samples. That's where they hide them...

I tell ya, Yack makes some of the least spaceship-related-sounding music ever, but damn, is it good!
