Could this be one of the few summers that's actually gonna rock for games?  The DS gets some massive love coming its way with Trauma Center Under The Knife 2, Final Fantasy IV, Metal Slug 7 and Rhythm Tengoku Gold.  I have vague recollections of enjoying the old Track & Field games, callus-inducing rapid button mashing and all, so maybe I'll give New International Track & Field a go.  I'm still on the fence with Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo's Dungeon for the Wii, not being a dungeon-crawler player by nature, but the FF arrangements could be worth the price of admission.  And then there's Soul Calibur IV by month's end.

For CDs, Gyakuten Saiban Orchestra Concert 2008 ~GYAKUTEN MEETS ORCHESTRA~ is a lock, and while I'll likely be picking up the The Dark Knight Soundtrack, the multiple releases (regular edition, limited edition, standard edition) has me bewildered to the point that I have no idea which one to get.

Being the consumer whore that I am, I'm awfully excited for Izuna 2...  ;p  There's a new Stafi game coming out this month too, which I may or may not jump on.  FFIV is awfully tempting, but I'd hate to scar the immaculate perception of my old SNES days.  Besides, FFTA2 still demands alot of attention.

Don't forget Persona 4!! (*cough* in Japan) sad  It'll be interesting to see how it fares to the previous titles in the series.

...and last there's the aforementioned FF Fables: Chocobo's Dungeon.  Having spent enough time on Izuna and Baroque, I think I'm ready for Square's take on the genre.

These days I just buy food and gas. If I do find a game I really want for sale at a great price, I'll pick it up, although there aren't that many games I want. I've stopped buying DVDs entirely, but that's in part because my University has a gazillion DVDs for rent for free! Izuana 2 looks pretty cool, so I'll wait for the reviews and maybe pick it up when it's on sale. Otherwise, I tend to spend any "extra" money I have on travel and dates tongue

cheers,

I will be buying gasoline to fuel my vehicle to and from work and my karaoke bar.

I'm also going to be buying lots of food to help sustain my veganism. Soy-based frozen snacks (ie: fake ice cream), plenty of meatless and dairy-less chicken and hamburger patties, Tofurkey hot dogs, fresh vegetables and fruit, ricemilk, etc. I picked up this stuff the other night called "Better Than Cream Cheese" - and it's really, really good. Throw some chives on that, frost a bagel with it... delish! The list goes on and on, but it does not include any media or entertainment that is being released this month (unless you call cooking entertainment... which it is).

Qui-Gon Joe Jul 1, 2008

Zane, cooking most certainly counts as entertainment... I can't wait to get back to it once I'm out on my own again!

Anyway, as for me, I just got hired for a job for the fall (YAAAAAAAY!!!!), so my major purchase this month will probably be from the local Subaru dealership so I have a way of getting to it.  That said, I will very likely not be having much money for other things.  Probably some apartment shopping later in the month/early August.

Ryu Jul 1, 2008

Since it has been announced, I'll get Soulcalibur for the XBLA tomorrow (Wednesday July 2).  Who knows what other XBLA, or PSN and VC/Wiiware games I might get... most likely nothing else as long as I am working through this backlog of games.  I have Civilization Revolution (360 or PS3, haven't decided, but 360 has better reviews from the Euro-sites) and Soulcalibur IV (definitely PS3) coming through Gamefly, so I'm pretty sure I'll get both of those.

On dvd, I'm just getting Law & Order SVU season 7.  For bluray, there are two Batman releases:  Batman Begins and Batman:  Gotham Knight, the latter that anime thing I believe AdamCorn mentioned a long time ago.

Speaking of Batman, and I know this goes against the long-standing tradition of not mentioning theater trips in these thread, but I'll be purchasing a movie ticket to see The Dark Knight.  Also, I'll be seeing X-Files I Want to Believe.

'grats.  What sort of Subaru are you looking at?  I'm generally not a fan of hatchbacks, but I love the design of the Outback Sport -- given the choice, I'd actually choose it over the Impreza 2.5 or Legacy sedans.

I'm guessing the Forester might be too much car for you, but as far as a competing SUV goes, it's right up here with the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4.

You guys are getting so much nice stuff and I am completely broke.

I dont think I will really buy anything which is not really a choice but if I do it will probably an exchange for my 2nd copy of Brawl for another game, or to sell it and use money for something...

At least cant say I have to buy fuel as I dont even have a license or food because I live with my mother. tongue

Would love to have that Gyuken Saiban concert cd so I could compare the tracks though! With some luck it will not be out of print before I have money to buy it.

Regular Outback, actually.  I've been quite fond of them since I was in Japan, actually.  A good friend of mine had a Legacy wagon and another teacher at school had a newer Outback.  I like the way they feel, look, and can carry a lot of stuff.  Plus the fuel efficiency and safety are better than an SUV, and the AWD will be good for Chicago winters (and for any camping trips I go on now that I'm back here).

Anyway, it's looking like I'll have one in about a week.  So excited!  ...too bad I won't be able to afford to drive it a whole lot until the paychecks actually start in August (I'd just wait longer, but I'm getting a good deal on an '08 since the '09s started coming in last month).

What? Why's SVU 7 coming out before Original 6? Dammit Universal, I want my complete set of the Schiff era!

*ahem* Anyway...

Of keenest interest this month is FF4DS, but even there I'm hesitant, because as I said in the CTDS thread, FF3DS was so awful I can only too easily see it broken. Calibur IV's a possibilty, but I skipped over III and it seems like it's only gotten loopier since then. This is when I wish I could trot to the store and buy a playable demo.

In reality I'll probably stick with what I have for now. I'm still working on MGS4, and when that's done I've Wild Arms 4, Odin Sphere, Katamari Damacy, and Portrait of Ruin waiting all new-like, and No More Heroes, Phantom Hourglass, and Zero Mission all mid-stream. I can take a month off.

I only watch SVU so I had no idea that the original series is getting shafted on DVD.  According to Amazon, original's fifth came out last year in April.  SVU's sixth was released just a few months ago (April, I think?).  NBC/Universal's release schedule baffles me.

I bought a MG4 PS3 bundle. That about takes care of my purchases for the next three months. wink

Nice car Avatar and the backdrop really does look like it came out of a tv show in the States. tongue

I actualy bought a whole lot even though I dont have much money most of it was cheap anyway...

-First I managed to win a whole lot of game soundtracks from ebay which included Rez, SEGA Rally, Metroid Prime/fusion and a lot more for a really cheap price!

-Then I won the Blue Dragon soundtrack used but in fantastic condition for less than it cost on Play-asia.

-Then I got a vinyl of Sonic the hedgehog SuperSonic cheap on ebay thanks to a friend telling me.

- After I got Donkey Kong Country 2, KuruKuru Kurin sealed and Metroid Fusion sealed for GB advance on ebay again.

-This week I won the cd version of the Supersonic single...

-Also managed to use my stars points to get Kirby and the amazing mirror from Nintendo's star catalogue. big_smile

-Almost forgot that I took advantage of the sale at play-asia,the currently low exchange rate and some store credit to buy the soundtrack for Sonic and the secret rings.

Sorry guys for all the typing...

Crash Jul 23, 2008

Wow...that Kirby CD always goes for a ton on YJA (like 15,000 yen or more).

That was me!  tongue

And yeah, my parents live in TOTAL American suburbia... perfect rows of houses in a grid with the typical lawns.  Oddly enough, it's kind of the "poor" end of town because the town where I grew up is mostly RIDICULOUSLY huge places in gated communities where a house costs a million bucks.  It's pretty insane.  Okay, I'm done derailing this thread now.

Nice. Well, feel free to post comments in the MGS4 thread as you go and I'll be happy to be your Angela.

EDIT: Oops, forgot to add what I bought. I went after some of those old Garfield special DVDs online, and can re-affirm the Halloween one is the best show on the holiday ever ever. Also, In the Rough has an inexplicable edit (it can't really be because of the pelvic thrust, can it?), and the Paradise show's "Hello Hawaii" theme is the most insidiously catchy tune I've heard in months.
I also picked up Touch Detective 2 1/2 brand-new for roughly $8 - am I the first person to buy it, or something - and may grab Calibur IV after all since I've learned there may be DLC exclusive to the Premium Editions...damn it all.

Amazingu Jul 24, 2008

I'll go out and buy that Siren Remake that got released today, and I'll probably get the new Fatal Frame/Project Zero/Whatever game on thursday next week (on my birthday!)
Looks like this is gonna be a good month for Horror fans smile

Just quickly apologising to Quin-Gon Joe for mistaking him for Avatar, which problably happened as he is one of the person's I dealt with the most in the marketplace. tongue

Also I was very happy to have the chance of getting kirby after spending a whole afternoon scratching off star cards! The last time I ordered a Legend of Zelda golden statue from them and took about 3 or more months though! I am guessing that with some luck I will be playing kirby somewhere before christmas or my birthday... smile

I paid for a sonic dance remix cd yesterday as well just for the novelty of seeing the art on it.
