hello everyone smile

i wanted to ask for your help for something. I dont know much about video games music except final fantasy mainly so here i have some question.
Could you propose to me some very big sounding choral pieces ? I am talking about songs in the style of liberi fatali and one winged angel from final fantasy.

i would greatly appreciate your help since i love so much huge sounding pieces like that.

thank you smile

I can't think of any game soundtracks from my own collection that prominently attempt that sort of testosterone-charged choral work and pull it off but if you're open to trying out some film soundtracks these should fit the bill.

Conan the Barbarian
First Knight
Lord of the Rings trilogy (in order perhaps 3, 1, then 2?)

Curious to hear if anyone has any game music recommendations.

ACE COMBAT 5 THE UNSUNG WAR Original Soundtrack - 313 The Unsung War

Ace Combat 04 shattered skies Original Sound Tracks - 213 Megalith -Agnus Dei-

Some of the Soul Calibur II & III songs like - 118 Hellfire

Most songs from Wander and the Colossus ~Roar of the Earth~ Original Soundtrack.

Final Fantasy VII Advent Children Original Soundtrack - 201 Divinity I & 204 Divinity II

Hmm... "very big sounding choral pieces" in game music.  That's a tough one (for me).  How about:

- "LET THE WINDS BLOW" - Theme of Phantasy Star Online Episode III (Phantasy Star Online Episode III C.A.R.D. Revolution: Original Sound Track)
- Orumus (Xenosaga Episode I)
- The Resurrection (Xenosaga Episode I)
- The Miracle (Xenosaga Episode I)

If you want something that's not quite game music, then you can try some tracks from Yoko Kanno's Song To Fly album:
- Atomic Bird
- The man in the desert (one of my favorites)
- The Ship
- Hallelujah

Neodammerung from The Matrix Revolutions is pretty awesome.

The Main Theme from Myst III has that kind of big choir style too.

Nice choices. I'd also add "ZERO" besides them though.

You could find many songs like that in American/European medieval (and earlier eras) games. Here's a few I can list off the top of my head:

- "Divine Intervention" from Universe at War
- "Bounty Hunter" from Advent Rising
- "Apocalypse" from Hitman: Blood Money
- "Intro Movie: Seasons of War" from World of Warcraft
- Tomb Raider: Legend and Tomb Raider: Underworld Main Themes

And there's good choral work in these games:

- Age of Conan
- Freedom Fighters
- God of War (series)

Hmm... dunno if these will work for you, but you could try checking out:

*Xenosaga Episode II soundtrack disc 1, track 13 "Communication Breakdown"
*Blue Dragon original soundtrack disc 2, track 24 "The Seal is Broken"
*Super Mario Galaxy's "Arch Nemesis King Koopa" and "Showdown on the King's Planet" are pretty epic sounding and both have some choir in them
*Kameo: Elements of Power "Hero's Theme," "The Badlands," "Danger in the Sky" oh heck just listen to that whole soundtrack.
*Also, try to track down some samples from the new Alone in the Dark soundtrack.  A lot of that might be of interest to you.

The rest of these never had official soundtracks, so you'd have to find rips:

*Beyond Good & Evil: "Dancing with Domz"
*Phantasmagoria (old PC game): "Consumite Furore"
*Red Steel "choir theme" (IGN had this track up as a download before the game came out, they still might)
*Super Smash Bros. Brawl opening theme

That's all I can think of off-hand.  I'll edit if I can come up with any others.

Edit: A lot of those tracks have some electronic or rock influence in them as well... if you want exclusively traditional orchestral/classical-type stuff, skip all but Kameo and Smash Bros. Brawl.  But I'd recommend you not doing so.  wink

The opening track of the Suikoden II soundtrack fits your criteria, I think, but the choral section is very short.

Go on isohunt.com and download the "Immediate Music" torrent and the "X-Ray Dog" torrent. A majority of the music they make is like that. There's also "Two Steps from Hell" that does the same thing.

Here just a very few samples (each has hundreds of songs and it was hard to only pick a couple out of all the good ones)

There also was a video game called "Dragon Lore" (parts 1 and 2) that had a lot of choral music. There never was an OST, but I extracted all the tracks and made a semi-presentable OST

There's some in Myst III and Myst IV
There's also several in Xenosaga Episode III   "we've got to believe in something" and "promised pain"

It seems like Duel of the Fates is an obvious mention if we're counting movie soundtracks.

Suikoden II was mentioned, and Battlefield Without Light has some strong choral elements.  I think you'd have to get it from the Genso Suikogaiden album though.

Shadow of the Colossus was also mentioned, and I think that A Violent Encounter might fit the bill nicely.

There's also Esper Battle from Final Fantasy XII.  It made the Esper fights feel very epic.

Finally, I've always liked Demons from SMT3: Nocturne Maniacs.  There's a great choral swell before the loop.

Symphonic Poem "Forbidden Prelude" from Drag-on Dragoon 2 Original Soundtrack is the greatest. Trust me.

Chris.Tilton Jul 9, 2008

Oh, and John Debney's score to LAIR. Forgot about that.

Very true. Also look into Baldur's Gate, Morrowind, Oblivion, and other PC RPGs.
