Inspired by Qui-Gon's post:

http://www.soundtrackcentral.com/forums … hp?id=3902

and besides we haven't had a poll in a while, I decided to inquire about your "next-gen" library! List the 360 games you own, and/or PS3 games you own. (I'm not counting Wii games because I don't feel like it.) Not interested in X-box nor PS2/PSX games, just the newer stuff! Seems to me like the PS3 is really in a dry spell, but perhaps some of you think otherwise? List away...

cheers,

PS3:

MGS4.

360:

Mass Effect
Grand Theft Auto IV

Wii:

Super Mario Galaxy
Wii Sports
Fifa Soccer 08 (came with it)

Because next-gen games are so expensive, I mostly just rent them via Gamefly. I'm working on Lost Odyssey right now (which is okay. Satisfies a JRPG fix, at least).

allyourbaseare Jul 14, 2008 (edited Jul 18, 2008)

For full Blu-Ray titles, these are the ones I've got:

Devil May Cry 4
Enchanted Arms
Folklore
Motorstorm (came with the system)
Ninja Gaiden Sigma
Sonic the Hedgehog

As for PSN titles,

PixelJunk Monsters
Super Stardust HD

...and, actually, I own Beautiful Katamari for when I get my 360  :barf:

Jay Jul 14, 2008

360:
Dead Rising (I adore it)
Tomb Raider Legend (it's okay)
Burnout something or other
Gears of War (fantastic)
Halo 3 (it's pretty good)
Orange Box (Portal rocks hard, rest is okay... I guess)
GTA4 (should have been better)

PS3:
MGS4 (barely a game)
Lego Indy (so much fun, I love it)
Lego Star Wars (also fun)
Ridge Racer 7 (excellent)
Uncharted (repetitive but enjoyable)

Ryu Jul 14, 2008

Just retail games?

360

Ace Combat 6
Burnout Revenge
Civilization Revolution
Dead Rising
Lost Planet Colonies
Orange Box (is on the way from Goozex, and JUST for the brilliant Portal game)
Rock Band (... for now, until I get Rock Band 2 and export all the RB-disc's tracks onto RB2)

PS3

Burnout Paradise

Until September, I'll probably only get one more game, Soulcaibur IV for the PS3.

I've bought digital games, but I can't recall them all and I'm too lazy to turn on the 360 to find out or quit FFXII (in-game XMB doesn't work with PS2 games) to check the PSN ones.

GoldfishX Jul 14, 2008

360:

Rock Band
Guitar Hero Aerosmith
Puzzle Fighter (dl)

Aw yeah...And I've bought 5 PS2 games since getting the 360 3 months ago, thanks to SNK.

XLord007 Jul 14, 2008

All I have is MGS4 for PS3.  I'll probably buy PixelJunk Monsters sooner or later since I really liked the demo.

If I had a 360, I would have Rez HD, Orange Box, and maybe BioShock.

Stephen Jul 15, 2008

XBox 360:
Rock Band
Earth Defense Force 2012
Wartech
Phantasy Star Universe
Ikaruga (DL)
Triggerheart Exelica (DL)
Commando 3 (DL)
Assault Heroes (DL)
Undertow (DL)

I have played through Eternal Sonata, DBZ: Burst Limit, and Gears of War, but I no longer own them.
I am planning to get Tales of Vesperia and Infinite Undiscovery.

Unfortunately, my Xbox 360 is at Microsoft's repair shop.  It was a Falcon-based motherboard, and it received a RROD after 6 months.  Meanwhile, my wife's first-generaton Xbox 360 is still running.

SonicPanda Jul 15, 2008

At the moment, only MGS4. A 60GB system, DualShock3, and Limited Edition game is a lot of tender to part with in a short amount of time. My next purchase will most likely be DMC4 because the rental was great fun.

On the other hand though, I've 11 Wii games, 2 WiiWare titles, and almost two dozen VC games. Just saying.

Carl Jul 15, 2008

none and... none.

charmed699 Jul 15, 2008 (edited Jul 15, 2008)

I got so many xbox 360 games that it could take a while to list them all here. Some of my favorites that I play all the time are:

Eternal Sonata
Blue Dragon
Sonic the hedgehog
Phantasy Star Universe
Virtua Fighter 5
Sega Superstars Tennis
Ninja Gaiden 2
Condemned 1 and 2

Also tend to play a lot of Streets of Rage 2, both Sonic games,Ecco in which I surprisingly did very well and Rez on xbox arcade. smile

I am sure you guys dont want me to go through the rest of the list... but I always have this feeling that the xbox 360 needs a few more RPG.

Qui-Gon Joe Jul 16, 2008

Does it count if I only have the games but not the console?  Knowing that someday I'll have a 360, I've made use of various dirt cheap deals to build up a small collection of games for when I do eventually have it.  These include:

Beautiful Katamari
Blue Dragon
Kameo
Perfect Dark Zero
Phantasy Star Universe

I've probably paid less than $70 or so for all of them.  Sometimes it's wonderful being late to the party.  smile

(also... I've played a fair bit of Kameo and PDZ on a friend's console... enough to think Kameo is pretty awesome and PDZ is mediocre but not as bad as the internet would lead one to believe)

Amazingu Jul 17, 2008 (edited Jul 17, 2008)

I'll start with PS3:

Heavenly Sword: probably the best character models and facial motion capture I've EVER seen, but the game itself is only so-so
Ratchet & Clank Future: the usual high quality stuff. If you've played one, you've played 'em all, but in this case, that's a good thing. Got me into the old soundtracks, which are GREAT. I was also surprised to find that the Japanese voice-track is MUCH funnier than the English one.
MGS4: Best damn movie I've seen this year, and that probably won't change. Extremely mediocre game though.

Also, I bought Ninja Gaiden Sigma, but sold it shortly after. God what an atrocious piece of sh*t that was. Itagaki was right about that at least.

360, hope I'm not forgetting any:
Perfect Dark Zero: Meh. Not nearly as good as the original, obviously
Kameo Dark Elements of Power (or something): Okay. Good Soundtrack.
Enchanted Arms: LOVED it, but I seem to be the only person on the planet who did. Sequel please.
Oblivion: Holy sh*t, this game took me over 100 hours to complete and it NEVER bored me for a single second. Absolutely amazing.
Gears of War Very pretty. Very short. Very average.
Ghost Recon: Yawn
Tomb Raider Legend: Decent enough. Nothing special though. A bit too short.
Rainbow Six: Haven't played it yet
Project Gotham Racing 3 Fun enough to play through to the end. I found out I prefer Racing sims over Arcade Racers though. Which is why:
Forza Motorsport 2 was so much better. If it hadn't had a rather painful lack of variety in tracks, this would have been an absolute winner. It's at the very least much more accessible and user-friendly than the GT series.
Viva Pinata Haven't played it yet
Splinter Cell Double Agent Wow. Are you watching this, Kojima? THIS is what stealth is all about!
Dead Rising Could have been great if it wasn't so totally goddamn FRUSTRATING. Not even Megaman references can save it.
Mass Effect Awesome potential, but falls kinda short due to extremely uninspired subquests. If they polish that up for the sequel, they have a potential masterpiece on their hands.
Bioshock Best FPS ever. Period. Played through it 5 times consecutively. Loved it every single time. Worthy of all the praize it can get, although the "morality" thing is highly overrated.
Blue Dragon No, Sakaguchi. NO!
Lost Odyssey Yes, Sakaguchi. YES! More like this please.
Dead or Alive 4 It's DoA, you get what you expect.
Orange Box Best damn collection money can buy. Phenomenal stuff.
Assassin's Creed Monotonous, but engaging. Very curious to see where this goes.
Eternal Sonata This is what Namco games represent for me: Great original idea with lots of potential, executed extremely porely and boringly (see also: Katamari Damacy). A JRPG about Chopin's Deathbed!? f--- yeah! Shame they made him such a whiny preachy asshole...

So yeah, I've got slightly more 360 games than PS3 games, mostly because 360 games tend to be cheaper over here, or at least become cheap a bit sooner. Plus, I'm an achievement whore.

Ryu Jul 17, 2008

Amazingu, I played and enjoyed Enchanted Arms.

Nekobo Jul 17, 2008

PS3
Metal Gear Solid 4
Guitar Hero III

I'll also include PSN games, too, since my list is sad

Blast Factor
fl0w
Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo
Everyday Shooter
Superstar Dust HD

Huh? What did Itagaki say? I have all three iterations of Ninja Gaiden and while I never got around to playing Black, I found Sigma to be very similar to the original game. If you're talking about Rachel's levels, though, I agree... they were shit. I can't remember the dude's name who had the two pistols but he ranks in my top 10 cheapest bosses of all time.

I'm certainly appreciating Ninja Gaiden 2's streamlined menus and gameplay. Fewer fetch-quests is a good thing. I just wish they would've focused on more platform puzzles instead of endless waves of baddies to kill.

Well, I guess that kills my interest for the upcoming PS3 port.    Ah well.

I'm stunned at the lack of Call of Duty 4 here.  Seriously, it's probably the best current-gen game I've played yet; yes, even better than MGS4, and that's mighty words coming from me.

ditto here...

monday nite my little brother called me from best buy where he's a puter tech..
"mike we just got in about 25 Wii fits,, you still looking for one?"
"hell yeah dude, grab it!"

the fit board slides neatly under our IKEA tv stand out of reach from nibbly bunnies.

I played and enjoyed CoD4, but it wasn't a keeper for me.

Wanderer Jul 17, 2008

I really enjoyed CoD4... but I rented it. wink

Itagaki has actually stated the game is "no good":
http://kotaku.com/5010331/itagaki-rags- … iden-sigma

I AM mainly talking about Rachel's levels, yes, and the guy with the guns is indeed one of the biggest bastards in VG history. And Sigma doesn't even include the old Ninja Gaiden games, which WERE in the Xbox games, or so I have been told at least.

That, and the extremely cheap difficulty of the game, paired with a lousy camera, a main character that moves much too fast to be controllable and a lack of save points in the later stages of the game just made me give up on it.

I was looking forward to playing 2, but not anymore now.

and:

Elsewhere in the interview, Itagaki confirms that Ninja Gaiden II will never appear on the PS3, and if it ever did that would be "a loss of face for everyone involved."

Wow, them's fighting words...
I'm rather impressed he was so blatant. Of course, who knows whether or not NGII will eventually show up on the PS3. However, I must say that after reading the posts on this thread, it becomes painfully obvious that the PS3 has little going for it. Besides incomplete backwards compatibility (which yes, they did promise, and it was a huge selling point to many), the games are really expensive and where are the good ones? Of course, Sony does have all the mindless fanboys and fangirls behind it, but eventually that too will change...

cheers,

Well, I'd have to call BS on Itagaki. Sigma is ultimately the same game with slightly better visuals and the completely unnecessary addition of Rachel's "quest". It just sounds like he hates Sony so much that he's willing to cast the blame upon them and anyone else involved with the game. It makes me think of Yngwie Malmsteen interviews I've read in which he rags on former bandmates because a past record or tour didn't turn out like he'd hoped. Itagaki rocks like that smile

With all that said, I think you should give NG2 a try. It has slightly fewer camera issues and it's a much faster flowing game. If you couldn't find any enjoyment in Sigma, however, maybe you should skip it.
