Man video game trailers still suck.

The gameplay footage does look cool though.  Not for people who easily get motion sickness.

This is one of those ambitious games that I'm really hoping lives up to its promise.  If EA/DICE don't screw it up, it could be really cool

I'm happy to report that they didn't screw it up and it is really cool.  After playing the demo (love the time trial mode!), I ran out to pre-order and got myself a somewhat ugly courier bag with my pre-order.  Can't wait to play the final game later this week!

Gametrailers.com's got their video review up:

It looks like something I might be able to dig as a rental.  Really not sure if the gameplay can sustain my interest for an entire game, even with the proposed lean completion time of eight hours.

The soundtrack may be worth looking into.  Is that vocal piece that plays throughout the review a licensed track?

It's too new agey for my tastes, but the song is Lisa Miskovsky's "Still Alive."  EA released five remixes of it that you can download here for free: http://www1.on-mirrors-edge.com/MirrorsEdgeMp3Pack.zip

Ah, thanks.  It doesn't look like the download is available anymore, though.

I like the art style, interesting premise, but sounds cliche. Let's see, hundreds of people with guns, vs one chick with a tattoo...  meh, been there, seen that...

cheers,

A quick search will turn up some hits for the zip file. I haven't heard all the remixes in full yet, but listening to a couple of the ones on the site (Junkie XL! PVD!) I'd have to say that I'm really, really pleased with the song. Better than Portal's "Still Alive" to me. tongue

Nail on the head.

Finally beat this one over the holiday weekend.  Final verdict: good, not great.  Combat is extremely irritating and interupts the flow of the game, but the visceral feel of running, climbing, leaping, sliding, etc. through the environment is really fun.  Here's hoping DICE smoothes out the rough spots for the inevitable sequel.
