I seriously wonder, some people must have no life if all they do is spam. I guess a psychologist would call it a cry for attention, I call it pathetic!

Anyway, just thought I'd ask and see what people are up to this weekend? Curious to hear what a typical weekend is like for people... It is a holiday weekend here in the US, but for grad students that means squat. So, work for me this weekend, and maybe some kayaking too! I would go hiking, but hurt my knee (damn meniscus)! I'll probably watch some Batman the Animated Series on DVD (which is SO much better than the recent move smile and maybe even play a little video game...

I might go into Boston tomorrow night and do some swing dancing (my fav activity for Friday night... and a good way to meet some attractive women). If Zane is around maybe we could hang for a bit smile

btw, did you know that amazon yesterday had a HUGE sale on video games, and I missed it! (curses)

cheers,

Parents visiting comin up this weekend.  Yay free meals for me all weekend hehe.

Cedille Aug 28, 2008

I've been studying hard since last year, and I'll spend the entire weekend for it. I once thought preparing for an exam in years would be painful as hell, but now I do think it's not, because having a specific goal in my life is pretty reassuring. Now I learn civil law, constitutional law, administrative law, economics, finance, business, accounting, history, geography, ethics, literature, mathematics, chemistry, physics, biology, geosciences, yada yada yada, and most of these subjects are actually fun.

While I really don't like the way some people pretentiously cite their gradual indifference to video games as their maturity, I've not played it for long either, and don't plan to get a new game for the time being.

Zane Aug 28, 2008 (edited Aug 28, 2008)

I have a few things here and there, but I would definitely make time to kick it tomorrow night if you're gonna be around, man. I'll give you a call and see what's going on! I can't shake it worth a dollar, but I'd definitely be up for scoping out some females at the swing club.

My main goals this weekend otherwise are:

- Attend a friend's wedding on Saturday and stay out of trouble
- Finish killer7 so I can start working on my OST FAQ proper
- Play the hell out of Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles (side note, this game rules)
- Sleep
- Finish the latest song I have been writing

happy birth-contractions-day weekend!!

imma gonna go mountain biking sunday,, providing we're done packing up a bazillion doll preorders.. Smegging customs held our shipment this month and we had to pay $235 in broker fees to get it cleared.

Ha ha, yeah.  I've got them all myself except for volume four because I didn't like the change in animation style.  And a little videogame?  I wonder if you're talking about Batman & Robin for Genesis/SNES or something...

I doubt I'll be doing anything interesting this weekend aside from preparing for the birth of my nephew, which is scheduled to happen on Tuesday.  I suppose I should be looking forward to it, but I'm not because of the circumstances.

Cruise to Alaska big_smile

My wife's mother is watching our little one so it's just going to be the two of us for close to a week.  Needless to say I'm pretty psyched!  We're both packing our DS'es (Drawn to Life, Nintendogs & Dragon Quest: Rocket Slime for the Mrs. and Etrian Odyssey, Pokemon Mysterious Dungeon and Mr. Driller for myself) and we have a couple off-shore excursions planned as well.  It's going to be fun - nature hikes, whale watching, 50 degree weather (Vegas is still at 107, *UGH*) and just some good ol' fashioned quality time together.

I've dropped 8 pounds in preparation for this cruise as I"ve heard people can put on that much!  (8 pounds down, 32 to go *sigh*)

See you all when we get back!

Zorbfish Aug 28, 2008

Work during the night, sleep during the day. Might try to squeeze in a few hours playing Contact and surfing the net but thats about it. Exciting, isn't it? tongue

!!  This is my plan too.  For me, this game has become such a special experience, I make sure to wait until late night when I cannot possibly be disturbed... something that is hard to do in my normal schedule.  Such a... just a very beautiful game.

Besides this I plan the usual, study study study tongue  Very hard to do much else with this schedule.

Chris Aug 28, 2008 (edited Aug 28, 2008)

I've set a punishing schedule for myself for most of the summer so this weekend isn't an exception. I'm really starting to hate my course again given I'm working on a load of pointless, ridiculously specific plant biochemistry essays at the moment in between the ones I actually choose to do because they're not covered in tutorials elsewhere in the course. My life would be much less stressful if I gave up on the 1st and just headed for the 2.1 that I'll probably get regardless due to my incompetence at doing lots of exams packed into one week anyway.

Also organized a nice night out tomorrow with some friends in the area. I plan on writing a few Monster Hunter soundtrack reviews too. It'll be nice to give that series some recognition even if I probably won't do it justice with my robotic writing at the moment.

Angela Aug 28, 2008 (edited Aug 28, 2008)

I don't envy the lot of you still going to school.  Awesome that you're all plugging away at it, but I'm just glad I'm finished with my own edu-mah-cation.

I've got a co-worker's baby shower to attend on Friday afternoon.  Since there's no new must-see movies this weekend, I might go up to Atlantic City for a day or two.  Good weather permitting, I plan on taking the motorcycle.  This is the first time I'll be attempting such a long run - roughly three hours each way - so here's praying I don't find myself splattered thirty miles across the Garden State Parkway.

Other than that, some light shopping is in order.  I do need a new microwave for the one that went on the fritz yesterday.  I was re-heating my leftover Italian stuffed shells last night, when *ZAP* all power went dead.  Wonder if it was trying to say something about my cooking.

And..... I want to play more Street Fighter IV so very, very badly. Capcom sure ain't making it easy coming over here.

Idolores Aug 28, 2008 (edited Aug 28, 2008)

Oh, forgot to mention Suiko 2 is on list of shit to get through. As is a startlingly large heap of laundry. Man, I lead a boring life. On my days off from wrestling bears, that is . . .

SonicPanda Aug 28, 2008

Work, work.
I'm the only full-timer at my position, so I'm scheduled every day of the weekend. Besides that, I've got a backlog of games like nobody's business, so it's not like I'll have a bad holiday. I'm at 40% on DLing Rearmed right now, too. Yes, despite having God's own backlog. That's how these things start, you know.

XLord007 Aug 28, 2008

I took off of my 2nd job so that I could actually have three days off in a row to catch up on sleep.  I really wish I was going to Seattle for personal reasons unrelated to PAX, but since traveling is too expensive right now, I'm stuck at home.  I guess I'll try to finish Bionic Commando Rearmed.

James O Aug 29, 2008

In terms of games (I guess I should have mentioned that) I'm playing Final Fantasy IV DS (just beat Barbariccia), and also playing Ys Oath in Felghana on my PC.  I'm really loving FFIV DS and the way it's been redone.  I have no complaints about it whatsoever.

Wanderer Aug 29, 2008

For a good chunk of the weekend, I'm going to be playing Tales of Vesperia. Yay!

But Friday night, I have a masterclass where I'll be performing and also singing. And Saturday afternoon is my voice lesson. Finally, I'm meeting an aunt Saturday evening for dinner. Other than that, gaming fun!

Jodo Kast Aug 29, 2008

I'm returning the Auzentech sound card because the drivers for Windows Vista (64 bit) are not stable, nor could I even get them to install. I spent 3 hours learning the hard way. Never mind the fact I had to trade in my new computer because it did not have extra PCI slots; it only had PCIe slots, which I could not use. So I've learned two new lessons about PCs in the course of 24 hours. I have to get a new sound card that is compatible with Vista 64 bit and thankfully, it's much cheaper than the Auzentech. If I'm really lucky the Razer Mako speakers I ordered will arrive on Saturday; if not I'll have to wait until Tuesday.

I know for A Fact I'm getting barbecue Saturday night. And probably pizza on Sunday. Oh yeah.

longhairmike: How's the doll biz been going this year?  Is it generating enough profits to make it a primary income, or still just a side gig?

cedille: Good luck with the law studies and hope you pass the bar exam!

allyourbase: Nice, Hope you and the wife enjoy all the private time on the cruise while getting a break from the kid duties!

zorbfish: Ahh another 3rd shift worker, you're not the only one who has to work nights, bro.

chris: I can't believe how mega popular the Monster Hunter series is in Japan... It has 3 of the top 5 selling PSP games, now that's something.  Wonder what all the fuss is about?

angie: gone shopping for all your leather biker-chic gear?
And yes, I don't see how arcade cabinets can really be worth 20 grand.

James: enjoy Oath of Felghana on the pc, it's great! Then be sure to play Origins next, because it's even better and kicks Felghana's ass.

It's major primary. I officially stepped down to part time at fedex and I'm digging my new 2:30-8pm shift. Fedex is now just for easy insurance, pumping up the 401k, and having time to think up my really fucked up jokes...

youre the first to hear this new one:

Tired of having a job where youre required to wear loose dress pants? Do you miss the comfortable snug of tight denim? Our new hybrid pants are made from a special 70/30 cotton spandex blend to be work legal-yet fit tightly

X-Slacks.. for those who like the feeling of full pants...

EXPLANATION!

Some people, when they get banned from a certain messageboard, get so pissed, that they go on an unholy crusade to get banned from every last conceivable messageboard that they have access to. It's how they try and convince themselves that being banned from previous messageboard didn't really matter [/armchair psychologist] (Not that I'm attempting to justify it or anything, I just have a habit of trying to analyze anything and everything that crosses my path). Seriously though, one would have to be REAL BIG ASS in order to get banned from Gamingforce; practically ANYTHING-GOES on those boards...

As for me, I've been trying to severely limit my post-whoring activities lately; having a nice stack of video games and assignments really helps me accomplish that goal.

...

I'm finishing up this semester (we have quarter semesters/10 week semesters) at the business college I go to; got about a week left, trying to get a nice stack of assignments out the door.

Otherwise, with my free time, I've been trying to get a nice stack of video games out the door: I've been alternating between No More Heroes, Wild Arms 3, Wild Arms 4, and Shadow Hearts III ~ From the New World, according to what I feel like playing.

Of course, it's still Summer, and I'd still like to take advantage of the warm weather while we still have it, so I've been trying to spend it outside. And by that, I mean I've been hooking up my video games and playing them outside on the back deck, when the weather has been permissive.

GoldfishX Aug 29, 2008

Ripping CD's (I'm slowly making the conversion to an audiophile...going to go for all 320 kbps of my originals and probably check out the 160 GB iPod down the road...not quite going for all lossless just yet. ;p), going down to play Smash Brothers/3rd Strike/Guilty Gear on Saturday and surprisingly enough, a hot date on Sunday. Nice way to ring in the end of summer, especially after such a hectic last two months.

Also need to make that favorite soundtracks poll over at OCR like I said I would...Will probably delay it another month.

Stephen Aug 29, 2008

My wife and I moved some unused furniture to my mother-in-law's house.  Later, we're taking my sister to a nice lunch for her birthday.  I also need to finish up Castle Crashers and start Tales of Vesperia.

Marcel Aug 31, 2008

This weekend, I'll be working at my job as a tour guide here in London and finishing up my Master's dissertation

Yeah, I'm not a fan of the animation in Vol IV, although I have to admit it seems to have gotten better as the season progressed. I bet they were forced to change the animation style to the more popular anime-like appearance by some dumb-ass executive or two with the combined intelligence of a sea slug. However, some of the stories were great! Also, it had what is arguably the best quote in the entire series:

"Relationships aren't supposed to be easy. Even I know that and I'm a vegetable." tongue
