Personally, I am not interested. Yet, for some reason this game is getting media attention equivalent to that Palin woman. All the reviews seem to say:

"it has problems, but yeah just look at the big picture"

which leaves me scratching my head to be honest. Anyway, this sounds like a game, made for casual gamers. Or a family game, or something dull like that. If you've played, do give us your biased review smile  and if you haven't played, any impressions?

cheers,

Glad we agree, Avatar. The game looks boring to me.

Thirded. Give me Mario 64 and killer7, dammit.

I haven't seen it lately, but I saw a preview a year or two ago, and it sounded insanely complex. Unless that's changed, or I misjudged it, it's not for the casual gamer. I saw it more as a game for hardcore fans of the god-game genre.

I played the DS demo of Spore Creatures which doesn't let you do anything other than put together a creature and wander an empty island.  As for the actual Spore, Will Wright has said that the game is meant for casuals.

It certainly is getting a lot of buzz in the media. I'd be interested in trying it out, but from what I can tell, it's a PC/DS (and eventually Wii) game. I only game on the PS3, so I'm out.

The pounding that the game is getting from Amazon customer reviews because of the DRM is beautiful.  If even one prospective buyer is turned off as a result, then the reviewers will have done a great thing.  This is also a good way to educate consumers about the invasive and virus-like DRM software that publishers like EA fail to adequately disclose.  Unfortunately, Amazon presumably will capitulate after EA demands that the reviews be erased.

WOW! Spore sure is getting it's ass kicked by the reviewers, and rightfully so I might say. I think DRM is evil. Is there a list anywhere of software that uses DRM? In particular I'm interested in games, although I don't think this is an issue for console games, is it?

The game even made the back page of TIME Magazine of all things, in which Will Wright was said to be considered a Living God (really)...

Spore itself doesn't seem to be mindblowingly original, but all the non-gaming press it's gotten, now THAT's the damn miracle.

Hahaha! I needed a good laugh this morning, thanks EA!
