Cool. I have to admit music-based FAQs are the only kind of FAQs I'd write.
I have one for Brave Fencer Musashi but never posted it and have a music usage text file for WA2 I'll probably turn into a guide.
Nice!
01) Rave On (Multiple)
This is Gateman's theme, and it is absolutely incredible. "Rave On" plays when
you trade in Soul Shells for admission into the Coliseum, as well as when you
make your way back to Gateman from the Vinculum Gate. I know I am not the only
one reading this that put the controller down and rocked out to this song.
You're absolutely right. I put the controller down and bobbed my head. My housemate was like "where's this crazy german techno coming from??"
You should to a music FAQ for No More Heroes, too. Masafumi Takada is awesome.
I sometimes find it hard not to drive through a parking lot at night without humming Sweet Blue Flag. I don't expect to see some anime chick jumping about though...
I agree, Sweet Blue Flag is my favorite song off that album. Also I thought Rave On only played on the two staircase sections leading into and out of the Coliseum?
I'll second "Rave On" though I wish it didn't distort near the end... and I definately have to mention "Visionary Community."
Still, I have to admit these are the two tracks that really grab me. However, I honestly get the feeling from the Killer7 soundtrack it's something I'd apprecaite a million times over if I submersed myself in the game's world.
Dude, Rave On is the very REASON I got this soundtrack!
My own personal favorite would be Tecks Mecks. I've been trying to find the game for awhile now, but I only come across the PS2 version, which I understand to be inferior. Someday...

Pretty much, but I worded it more specifically because the flow of the game goes like this:
- Gateman (Rave On)
- Coliseum (Island Edge)
- Vinculum Gate (Shoot Speed, usually)
- Gateman (Rave On)

That's... an awesome idea! I'm working on several writing projects right now that will be complete in a few weeks, so maybe I'll throw that on my "to do" list. I've been itching to play through NMH again, so this would give me the perfect excuse to do it!
Awesome job. Nicely presented and very informative with a good dash of passion! I think soundtrack FAQs on GameFAQs are a great way to raise awareness of video game music to more general gamers. There's nowhere near enough guides as to where game music plays in the game and I'm glad a lesser-known game like Killer7 has got that treatment now.
I actually contributed a few Final Fantasy soundtrack FAQs maybe four or five years ago, but I think I requested they take them down as they were long-winded. Still, were it not for them, I wouldn't have been redirected to some of the game music communities I'm part of now. Very neat you thanked me, but once again, it should be me giving massive thanks to you!
That was insanely detailed and utterly pointless -- everything a great FAQ should be! Good on ya for managing to write a FAQ and still enjoy the subject matter, too. I usually have to play through a game a few times to get all of the info I need, and by the time I'm done I'm so sick of the game that I never want to see it again.
Guides like this are very useful if the game has an in-game sound test, and you want to know where the music plays in the game itself. I have been through many occasions looking at a sound test and wondering where the music played.
Nice job, Zane.
I picked up a copy of Killer7 at my local EB before going into work today. I figured for $4.99 I could try it out and hear the music in context.
It outta be a crime to sell that game for $4.99. XD Kinda wish I could find a cheap copy; what is its condition?

Seriously! If you have the choice, I recommend getting the GCN version over the PS2 version. The PS2 version isn't as graphically crisp and has some load times when you switch characters. It's worth the wait if that's your only option, though.
For the record... it's definitely important go into this game with an open mind and a little patience.

I was reading the manual last night and it seems more complicated than it probably is.
I don't have a cube. Unfortunately, the game is in pretty rough shape but it'll work for trying the game out... I can always find a copy in better condition if I like it.
Man, I REALLY suck at this game... I can't even get past the first damn duplicator in the parking garage. Aiming for that "eye" is just... ugh... I suck at FPS stuff.
