Yeah, I know it's a weird topic but hear me out.

The other day at work a co-worker of mine got into a verbal confrontation with a female co-worker. The argument (which I saw) was pretty ugly and it got even uglier when he spit on her.

While I didn't personally see it hearing about it was enough to disgust me. What disgusted me even more is while my employer was aware of the events my co-worker was not relieved of duty in anyway - fired or the very least suspended. This just infuriated me because I felt like the company spit a loogy in the face of everyone that is respectful of other people. Sometimes I wonder how far one does have to go to get fired - ok, so there was that guy that got fired for saying he'd shoot everyone there but that don't make me feel better.

I've been told my co-worker is on thin ice having done this, forcing us to start a half hour late on Tues because someone had to pick him up and showing up 10 minutes late today.

The bright side is a few weeks ago I got into an argument with the same co-worker but it didn't escalate this far. Still, I felt like everyone that knew of it thought I was crazy. At least now others know what I've known about the guy all along.

But I digress... has anyone ever spit on you out of anger?

Sure. In the 3rd grade a kid named EJ got tired of chasing me and hocked a loogie on the back of my jacket. Got in pretty deep trouble, too, by 3rd-grade standards. That said, I've never seen an ADULT do so. That's just kind of pathetic.

somewhere i have a pic my friend max took of me hocking a 4-foot long grapefruit-juice-induced loogie off the 2nd floor balcony off the St petersburg, FL comfort inn balcony...

hey it was 15 years ago,, that kinda thing was no stranger than a ninja-star fight,, except for safety we used slices of cheese instead of ninja stars...

Sorry 'bout that.  I set filtering for a few words a short while back as a temporary countermeasure to all the nasty spam that was going on.  I've just changed the settings so grapefruit away smile

Back on topic, I consider myself a pacifist (just seeing other people go at it can make me sick to my stomach) but if somebody spit on me I think I'd lose it.  To do that at work of all places and to the fairer sex (hope that's not too un-PC) is just pathetic.

When I was in the 5th grade, another student spit right in my face as we were lining up to go inside after recess.  Honestly, I never figured out why he did it; we hadn't been arguing or fighting at all.

Same here. I've never been in a fight before, and when I see people brawling I feel like I'm gonna hurl. There's an area in Boston that I always avoid because of this - after the bars close there are fights everywhere. So pointless.

I've been spit on before but it was a long time ago, back in middle school. I said hi to this girl in one of my classes and it turns out her boyfriend was in the class and he tried to beat me up because I was being friendly. Oh, kids. He confronted me and spit on me to get me to fight back, but I just walked away.

In Britain, spitting constitutes common assault. Here at least your co-worker would expect to be suspended and reported to the police by his boss.

I used to get into quite a few fights when I was younger. I mostly started them but they were with bullies and I didn't really know how to stick up for myself in other ways. That said, I've never been spat on by someone, aside my dad, or considered spitting on someone.

I've heard this about many European countries, interesting to have it varified.

Anyone spits on me, I'll show you how non-pacifist I can be.
