After 20 years, Sega's finally releasing the OST from the Megadrive version of Sorcerian on October 29th. The town/castle and ending music is the same, I believe, but the game had different scenarios, so all the scenario music (i.e., 80-90% of the album) is different. I haven't played the game, so I don't know whether it's any good.

Details (in Japanese, though the track list is mostly English) here.

And just when I thought I had finally gotten all the Sorcerian albums.  Oh well, the more the merrier.

holy crap!

Nice find.

This is pretty cool indeed.  The Megadrive versions of many of Falcom's older games had great interpretations on the soundtracks, especially Dragon Slayer 1 and 2.  In this case, as Brandon mentioned, it's almost entirely different.  Cool stuff.

Who's the composer? Wasn't Yuzo Koshiro the composer of the original Sorcerian? I'm only really familiar with the music through the Perfect Collection Sorcerian albums.

According to http://project2612.org/ the Megadrive-only music was done by Hiroshi Kubota and Tokuhiko Uwabo, of Phantasy Star fame, explaining why it went up on Sega Store's website, I suppose.

Koshiro, along with Mieko Ishikawa and one or two other Falcom composers, composed the original Sorcerian score.

The Megadrive version was developed by Sega themselves, and so their in-house composers were responsible for all the new music.

Kind of off-topic, but does anyone happen to know of a resource for information on the Sega/Falcom relationship? It seemed to be going pretty strong there for a while, but they moved onto the SNES-only for a few titles and then almost entirely out of the console business.

Interesting stuff, didn't know about any of that.

Thanks for the info and link! It's a shame the US missed out on all those games except for Popful Mail. The new take on Lord Monarch has always interested me.

Speaking of unreleased Sorcerian OSTs, I was curious about the Sorcerian Online music, so I downloaded the client last night, and the music is stored as .ogg files. It's new arrangements, primarily (entirely?) of music from the original game. A lot of it has a mild jazz feel to it. The arrangements are decent, but either my headphones are going out, or the sound quality's not great despite a pretty high bit rate. You can download the client yourself here (click the big pink marble button), but it's a 500+ MB file, and it will take at least a few hours if you're not in Japan (or it did for me, anyway).

Alternatively, I'm working on naming the files and will put them up for download on some file-sharing site later this week.

Edit: Unless someone's already beaten me to this.
