Consider this my oddball request for the year.  Does anyone know where I could download a good, free fish tank-based screensaver?  The realistic, CGI-rendered tropical fish kind, like this:

For some reason, I feel the need for aquatic tranquility.  Of the faux kind.

Well, you can download the very same one featured in your video here...

For a price, of course. As for free, search me.Or torrents

As long as we're talking screensavers, I'd be keen on a very basic "snowing" screensaver (one that snows over top your desktop rather than cutting away to a separate snowy (and/or hi-resolution fully rendered) scene). I found one that did the trick, but it seemed to take a snapshot of my desktop before activating the snow, so if something on the desktop changed (like a a new IM window or new email icon for examples) I couldn't tell without  deactivating the screensaver, which is annoying.

Yeah, I might end up giving Dream Aquarium a try, since it's pretty much exactly what I'm looking for.  Though I was rather banking on something for free, twenty bucks ain't too bad.  And they do claim the license is unlimited; perfect for using on all of my home and work PCs.

I'll keep an eye out for that snow one for ya, VB.  Thanks!

why would you have any screensaver that does not have "after dark" in the name?

Honestly, I didn't know people still used screen savers since most computers automatically power down the monitor after inactivity to save juice.

The flying toaster folks, right?  Do they do fish too?

Well, it isn't so much the purpose of a screensaver as it's something I want to turn on by choice.  When I'm coming home from a long day at work, I'm not turning on my PC, then waiting ten minutes before aquatic tranquility kicks in.

Angela,
Did you look at any of the screensaver links that came up when googling for "free acquarium screensavers"?  There seems to be a couple.

But, the Dream Aquarium is the most professional looking product of all the ones I saw, even though it is not free.  And part of the $20 goes to environmental charities.

Not all good software is free, but surprisingly many are low-cost.
