Is this VCR still on sale? I have a few videos I'd like to transfer as well...

Edit: I somehow missed the fact that there's more than 10 seconds of video. Pretty daring stuff in this groundling's opinion... though I'm glad HD video wasn't around to capture the snot. wink

If that video's taught me anything, it's to bring plenty of tissues.  And not drink a Big Gulp before taking to the skies.

Looks scarier when you're flying at lower altitude than higher.  Is it?  I'd probably be peeing my pants if I knew I was that close to crashing into a forest.

Impressive! How long have you been flying? Where do you fly? Any "close calls"? How dangerous is it? Seems like fun, but I imagine it must be intense too.

cheers,

the VCR is made by some company called ION. It was $200 before xmas, but its on clearance from their holiday stock, so grab one quick at $80 with the coupon. i sold the trike in 2002.. i havnt been off the ground since... there are a million FAA violations in that video but the statue of limitations is up...

angela, flying high altitude is boring at 70mph.. it hardly seems like youre moving at all...

Hm, was your little visit to the plane hangar one of them? ;)

longhairmike Jan 2, 2009 (edited Jan 2, 2009)

no, that was where i rented a hangar (it had a gravel floor anyways).
its a little obscure airport in Frankfort, IL about 35 miles due south of O'hare... it's now private because a snowplow company bought it in an auction in 2000 to store their trucks. After that i was the only plane in there.

Eventually the $200 monthly rent wasn't worth it anymore when i only managed to squeeze in 20 flight hours in all of 2002. plus after 9/11 i didnt dare go within the 30 mile mode c radius of o'hare... any temps below 70 you need to bundle up.. mid-october thru mid-april,, forget it...

That'd be fun to try out as a rental just as a one-time only thing, but ownership sounds like way too much of a bitch to make it any kind of regular habit.
