How many people checked out the Valentine's Day Google logo and were disturbed? For some reason, it reminds me of Resident Evil... ah, anyway. Who here is doing something "sweet" and/or "romantic" for someone on this rather chocolate and flower ladened day?

cheers,

Yeah, that is kinda creepy.

Dais Feb 14, 2009

in terms of sheer, outstanding compassion today, my peak action will probably getting myself to eat at some point.

Idolores Feb 14, 2009

DAIS! It's all right! You and I are lonely wanderers of the STC boards! We don't need women! *cries*

Wanderer Feb 14, 2009

I just treat V-day as another day. Sometimes hard to do when it's been pushed down my throat by... ya know, everyone. wink

The google image kind of reminds me of the 'X' in the cover for Samurai X.  A little more disturbing than I'd like to think they were going for. tongue

Now that I've thought about it, it reminds me of how the X comes on the screen on the title screen Dracula X for the SNES and how there is blood beneath the title.

Fourthed.

We're talking about "Valium Times" day, right? The day that all of us unloved people have to take meds to distract ourselves from our pain of being unloved?

Qui-Gon Joe Feb 15, 2009

Should it disturb me that my life keeps me too busy these days to take time to even notice that it's this day?  I feel like I should've taken 5 minutes out of my day to go all emo or something.  wink

You, Dais and I, we need to go motorcyclin', with "The Boys Are Back in Town" playin' on the radio.

SonicPanda Feb 15, 2009

My family kind of turned it into a mini-Christmas by accident. I finally got a copy of Kororinpa and the last remaining Bone books I'd been meaning to get. Then I had to work. Weird day, in retrospect.

My boyfriend and I went out for a romantic dinner tonight, and we picked out flowers for each other afterwards.  I also got him a stuffed pink Domo-kun, which he loved.  All in all, it's been a good day!

For whatever reason, I always thought you were a dude.

And Domo-Kun? That is pimp. big_smile

I am! big_smile

And the Domo-kun is indeed pimp.

I didn't even notice the fact I have no girlfriend. In fact, I thought this thread was about Veterans Day. Oh, I'm certainly thinking of coupling, but of the kind between electrons and photons. You can't imagine the stretchiness my mind has been subjected to. If I get a subarachnoid hemorrhage, then you'll know why. (No, there are no spiders living under my brain.)

Cool beans. I respect that. big_smile

. . . but I do so want a Domo-kun.

Envy of Kirin Lemon rising!

Err... and/or of his guy, I guess?  <3 Domo-kun.

(totally derailing everything, but was I the only one who'd previously lived in Japan totally weirded out by Target having Domo-kun all over during Halloween?)

I've never set foot in Japan and I was weirded out by Target apparently making Domo-kun their own.

Conversely, I guess I'm the only one who didn't think of gore when I saw Google's valentine logo. :-p

Zane Feb 15, 2009

I had a big party for my single and cool couple friends in my little apartment in an anti-celebration of Valentine's (commercial holidays can suck it) and ended up playing Beirut and Flip Cup until 2:30 in the morning, and then played Super Street Fighter II for another couple of hours before collapsing in a mangled heap on my bed like a defeated Colossus, completely and utterly annihilated (hint: my weak point is beer). So I'd say that was pretty "sweet".

Idolores Feb 15, 2009

Sweet, Zane.

I spent my entire night talking to this girl I met online (who lives in the same town as me, I guess) and listening to bizarre Korean pop music. Lee Jung Hyun, you are a sexy, sexy woman. It was about 2:30-3:00am before I started to notice I should go the f--- to bed.

Heh, I'm with you.  I returned to America from Japan about a month before the Domo-kun decorations went up for Halloween, and it was pretty neat seeing the store like that.  Yet another reason why Target is my favorite retailer!

Hey, do you like the song Bakkwo?  Then give Wildside's cover "Queen of Love" a listen.  It's one of my favorites. :)

Queen of Love.  See?  All relevant to the V-day topic. ;)

Yo, you sure they can call that a cover? It sounds absolutely nothing like Bakkwo to my ears. Love the Eurobeat stylings, though. big_smile

Edit: Nevermind, just heard the similarity. Not surprised I didn't catch that one. It's still pretty vague, I would say.

I watched the totally sexy chinese movie "In the Mood for Love"

Great movie with extreme attention to every visual texture and detail.

Dragon what, now?

The wife and I decided to go out on Saturday would've been too much of a hassle so we ended up doing dinner and a movie on the 13th.  Italian food followed by "Slumdog Millionaire" (which was a really good movie) and when we got back I fed her chocolate and gave her a full-body massage.  No lie.  I'm good for like the next 5 years. wink

longhairmike Feb 18, 2009

I spent most of the V-day weekend with my new girl, which is a risky proposition when the relationship is relatively young, but I think standard "nothing ventured/nothing gained" rules apply here, so whatever.  That said, I do feel a bit guilty for spending so much time with her and not reading the news, catching up on demos, or working on Retro Game Challenge.  The nerd roots go deep.
