i'll definitely be skipping it then.
Do you make it a point to watch R-rated movies exclusively?

Nah..
'Cause MAMA-MIA! and DARKEST KNIGHT were my 2 favorite movies last year and they're both pg-13.
I guess it's just that after watching TERMINATOR 2 again last night and seeing the true vision of the original creator makes me very wary of supporting any watered-down interpertations of the material (which are usually made to cash in on a franchise's good name and popularity).
AKIRA just wouldn't be the same without all of the blood and guts, either.
..Speaking of censorship, i'm also really thinking about re-purchasing resident evil 4 for Wii again this month.
So i just gotta know one thing first, are you completely sure that the Chainsaw Decapitation is still intact in the US version?
I know that you already told me it wasn't censored, but i figured i'd just check with you one last time before putting down the $30.
Even with the violence of T2, I would argue that the only Terminator that didn't skew young was the original. The whole little boy, hasta la vista baby, thumbs up malarkey has me cringing as an adult.
And yet we mostly loved that at the time. So even if Salvation aims young, that doesn't automatically mean it will be poor or even watered down.

[in her most regal, defiant voice]: Off with their heads!
LoL!
Are you planning on getting RESIDENT EVIL Archives next month?
The new Stratovarius album Polarius comes out May 26. While I've been disappointed with several euro flavored releases by several bands in the last few years (Edguy, HammerFall, Gamma Ray) I'm interested to see what the band can do without guitarist/song writter Timo Tolkki.
I generally have ill feelings towards singer Timo Kotipelto writing as the structure of his songs fallen into the simple, predictable category after his first solo album. Still, I am very interested in seeing what keyboardist Jens Johansson comes up with as he usually writes very good tracks but they mostly ended up as bonus tracks in the past.
Angela: If you haven't already found them, here's Up samples: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002A4 … =dm_sp_alb
It sounds very very good, a mix between vintage jazz and Giacchino's wild action style. Unfortunately, it looks like it'll be digital download only (for reasons I can't fathom).

Thanks for the heads-UP. ;) I'm liking the samples, though the jazzy, breezier nature of some of the tracks is a jarring contrast to his last few high-octane works like Speed Racer, Star Trek, and the Cloverfield suite. Some instances remind me of Ratatouille as well, particularly with the adventurously-spirited Memories Can Weigh You Down.
Definitely looking forward to the soundtrack, but a big thumbs-down on the download only release. I wonder what their reasoning is for this.

Yeah, it's Giacchino going back to his breezier Pixar roots. Unlike the more straightforward Star Trek action score, he's doing the pastiche thing again, this time with 40s-50s jazz/show tunes. Of course, it's hard to tell too much from the samples but I love what sounds like the main theme (heard clearly in the "The Ellie Badge.")

It's an odd choice. You'd think Pixar soundtracks would sell well. I'm still holding out hope for a CD release.
Also, I heard Elfman's "Terminator Salvation" today. It's monothematic, very loud and heavy on the percussion (unsurprisingly). Unlike last year's entertaining "Wanted", it's not a score I'd want to put on just to enjoy. It's far too dark and brooding for that. It truly does sound like music that would underscore a post apocalypse.

I gave Salvation a listen today. Yeah, it's thematically one-sided, and not quite as stylish as Wanted, but I already like it a hell of a lot more than Beltrami's T3. The thrashing, rhythmic percussion work is on a generally entertaining level, and there are some nostalgically-pleasing sound elements that Elfman borrows from Brad Fiedel, such as the growling synth sound of Terminator 2's T-1000 at the end of "Opening" and during "The Harvester Returns." It's disappointing that the Terminator Main Theme doesn't show up anywhere on the soundtrack, but Elfman's new one is affecting enough to leave its own mark. It does adhere to that same somber yet hopeful tonality of the original Fiedel piece.
We'll see how it all comes together in the film. Can't wait!

Film reviews have indicated that the Fiedel theme is quoted in the score. I wouldn't be surprised if it's in there but reuse fees prevented its inclusion in the soundtrack.
Favorite tracks are the chaotic "Final Confrontation" and the soothing (sorta) "Salvation." Both right after the other are a great finale for the album.

Just found this, but I'm not certain of its origin. Considering that it has "x360" in its file name, it might very well be from the just-released Terminator 4 video game. In any case, it features a fabulous cue of the original Main Theme in there:
What? You mean I'm going to have to wait till the dvd to see the movie the way it was meant to be seen? Hell, I saw T2 uncut when I was 8~10. Still is a great freakin' movie.
You might wanna get the TERMINATOR 2: SKYNET EDITION that came out on Tuesday (it has a new 6.1 channel audiotrack).
They're selling it at best buy for $20.
Man, I still ain't seen the first two Terminator movies. I should get on that. And the Alien series. I only seen the first and third ones when I was a wee boy.
Sanctuary / The Star Onions
Heard all the tracks on iTunes, purchased the disc yesterday -- definitely not like the first album in my estimation but within my orbit -- always enjoyed some of FFXI musics.
T-Square / Discoveries
New T-Square album. Sounds like a good one so I'll pick that up next week.

Wait, they re-released this on DVD again? That just burns me up. I bought the Ultimate Edition DVD with the silver slipcase years ago right before the "Extreme" Edition came out (2003?) and now they have a "Sky Net" Edition? What's next, the "we love pissing you off" edition?
Sorry hollywood, I'm not buying. I passed up upgrading to the "Xtreme" version years ago and I'm choosing to do the same again.
Bernhardt, if you are still tracking this thread, Impetuth OST will be opened VERY soon. 1st 10 OSTs sold are autographed by Shinji Hosoe and Shoichiro Sakamato...well, make that 9 copies...

..What's next, the 'We Love Pissing Off Our Loyal Fans Edition'??!
Sorry Bollywood, but i'm not buying again. I passed up on "upgrading" to the 'Xtreme' version back then, and i'm choosing to do the same again with this version.
I feel your disdain for these never-ending multiple releases, my friend.
..Really looking forward to the new Marilyn Manson album being released this coming Tuesday (THE HIGH END OF LOW THEORY).
After playing through more of Guitar Hero: METALLICA, i can only hope that Activision sees the huge potential market out there for a Marilyn Manson edition of this series and releases it soon.
(even if they have to censor the lyrics a bit so that they get a TEEN rating for it, i'll still be first in line to buy a copy).
And i can GUARANTEE you that a Manson version of GH will outsell the upcoming Beatles edition.
There are A LOT of angry teens out there who will be drawn to a Manson edition to get out all their pent-up rage in a safe and constructive manner, as opposed to the music of The Beatles which is of course, before their time and a bit more difficult to relate to.
It will definitely be interesting to see the sales figures for the Beatles version when it comes out, but i won't be surprised if it flops.
A lot of Beatles fans don't even own a next-gen console to begin with, and it'll be an uphill battle to convince them to buy a ps3 or 360 just to play one game.
We shall see...
I bought "Up" a few hours ago and greatly enjoyed it. Unlike "Star Trek" which took several lessons to fully appreciate, "Up" sank in with just one listen (and I'm sure that I'll like it even more with exposure).
I figured that the soundtrack was more or less complete (given that the film isn't long) but after watching some clips, there's some charming unreleased music in there. I'm still bitter that we didn't get the entire middle section of "Star Trek" and this isn't helping!

Unfortunately, my worst fears have come true. I'm listening to this right now, and man, Stratovarius really, really needed to die like former guitarist and song writer Tolkki planned. What is left is an empty shell that mainly exists to make money off what little magic is attached to the name. I didn't think anything could be more boring than Elements Pt.2's "Awaken the Giant" and the self titled album's "Gotterdammerung (Zenith of Power)" but Jens Johansson has done it with "King of Nothing," which is insanely depressing when he's the person whose writing abilities I had the most stock in. The rest of the album pretty much consists of songs that sound like they're from Kotipelto's last two solo albums, so simplistic and retreated. Sersiously, can an album release make you ill?
I'm not the biggest Tolkki fan but I do believe his revenge is complete. Put this in the "sell" pile.
Edit: Wow, somehow it got worse. "Emanscipation Suite Part 1: Dusk" rips off 1996's "Babylon" so horribly. Apparently they're weren't just satified with killing the genre so the took a shotgun to its face. Won't even be dubbing this before selling it.

Thanks for the heads-up, and...I made the cut! (Got an autographed copy!)
BEST. VALUE. EVER.
$5 for about...13 tracks? Yes, 13 tracks! Did I mention that the music's fuckign awexome?! It's fuckign awexome!!
I actually like how the CD sleeve is just a very slim digipak case...very economical, and I can only guess that's why it's so inexpensive! WHICH IS AWEXOME!! Why not release more game soundtracks like this, especially those ones that're only one disc in length?!
BEST. VALUE. EVER.

What does the number of tracks have ANYTHING to do with value? What if they were 10 second tracks? Would THAT be worth $5?
And geeze, I've gotten MANY CDs for $5 or less, so I doubt this one's anything special....

Well, when you only shop at vgmworld of course it would seem amazing... But the price is a bit high for an independant/doujin game soundtrack; so you're probably paying for SuperSweep's name noteriety. Jun A. still kicks ass though.

Isn't the idea of value subjective? One man's trash is another man's treasure.
