Short answer: It's Bubble Bobble.  And Bubble Bobble rocks.

Yes, and yes. Best Taito game ever and I'm not hearing anything to the contrary. DLed it myself this morning, I'll probably put up my new Wii Code after dinner, in case anyone wants to barf bubbles together.

I'll have my own Code up soon (you're not the only one who had to invest in a new Wii recently, Sonic), but sadly, it doesn't look like online co-op is supported.  Oh Taito, why have you burst our bubbles so?

On the plus side, the upcoming 360 port, Bubble Bobble Neo, is said to support online play.  And of course, I'll be buying that one too.

Dang it. Is Neo going on PS3 as well or have the dastards devised a way at last to make me subscribe to Gold?

At any rate, I tried it out, along with one of the DLC Expert packs. The only perceivable difference between the standard and Super options seems to be the calibur of enemies you face. Arrange Mode is something else again, and tough in an honest sense (whereas Expert Mode largely relies on you knowing what to do in advance in order to proceed through its layouts). I just wish there was an option for the traditional music theme...new one's lousy.

P.S. what led you to get another Wii as well, if you don't mind my question?

Wait WHAT

They changed the theme music!?  I was going to pick this up as soon as the craziness of the end of the school year finished, but now I'm hesitant.  :\

Yasuhisa Watabane does it.

Sample is here.

The original theme is in, though it's not featured in the new Arranged modes.  Thankfully, it still plays up for the Standard and Super Standard 100 level modes.  Give the classic theme a listen at the trailer link.

As for the reason for a new Wii, my old one had been experiencing the exact same problems that I had back in '07.  Except this time, no sort of remedy appeared to work, forcing me to send the console back to Nintendo.  As they couldn't replicate the problem, I'm now $90 lighter, but equipped with a newer, later model.

What got to me was this had to happen just a day after I'd gotten Punch-Out!!  It was one hell of a bitter pill I had to swallow.

To further clarify, this is the one I meant specifically. It's also the general menu theme.

What happened with your Wii, and is Nintendo allowing you to move your account to your new Wii so you can get your virtual stuff back for free?

Yes.  Save data and Miis were all transferred A-OK, and I have the option to re-download all of my purchased software at any time, free of charge.

Nintendo's pretty excellent that way.

Ah, very good.

Heads-up redux, Neo was officially released for U.S. XBLA this week.  800 points.

Despite my thread title, I'm somewhat hesitant to get it.  Online co-op has been confirmed to be a no-show, and like Plus!, no save feature was implemented.  (Alas, I'm no longer the spry younger gamer who can attempt to take on all 100 levels in one sitting anymore.  Even back then, I admit to using the NES's password system every so often.)

Not certain if Plus's purchasable DLC is already included in the 800 MS points price tag.  You'd think it should be for the premium mark-up.

Angela, is there any difference between Neo for XBLA and Plus! for Wii?  I don't have an XBox360, but just wondering if they ever did bring Neo to the Wii would there be any need for it?

For all intents and purposes, it looks like Neo is a straight-up port of Plus!  About the only difference is the screen resolution.  I just took a gander at the trial version of Neo, and it does appear to be outputting in proper HD, as opposed to Plus's 480p.
