I hate to sound like a whiny fanboy complaining about a free gift, but damn do these rewards suck.  Nintendo should just give us all some Wii or DS points to do whatever we want with.

I'd take the Mario hat.

Yeah, pretty disappointing only because we know about all the awesome stuff members get in Japan.

Think about how easy it is for them to put that Punch Out!! "add-on" out there.  Probably didn't take that long, and boom, you've severed everyone their prize digitally without shipping or processing.

Punch-Out!! fanatic that I am, I'd take that Doc Louis downloadable fight in a heartbeat.

Funny thing is, there were development rumors before the Wii game came out that Doc WOULD be an opponent you could spar against.  I guess they excluded him out of the final build for exactly this.  Which is a tad irking for those of us who actually purchased the game, as we can now be saddled with the knowledge that we got a 99.9% completed product.  But what can you do.

Disappointing, yes.  Disappointing because what Japan gets is better?  Eh.  Last year they got this very same hat OR a golden Wii wheel (which you can now find in shops all over Japan for <2000 yen).  I had expectations set low just because the most recent set of platinum prizes in Japan was so crappy.  Not sure yet which one I'm going to go for here, though I'm leaning toward trying the Punch-Out thing.

I just want some new regular prizes to be updated!  Soundtrack CDs, please?

Could I register purchases now to get these things? I've been on a Punch-Out kick lately and would very much like that minigame.

No, you had to have achieved Platinum status before June 30th in order to be eligible. 

I opted for the hat, as I have no interest in Punch Out.

Ah, wasn't aware that that's what they got in Japan this year.  Previous years have been way more impressive.  They should have done the SNES classic controller.

And yeah, they certainly need to stock soundtracks in the regular store.

True enough.  It's just more bothersome this time, in light of what Reggie said prior to Punch-Out!!'s game release.

Is this considered any different, because of the nature of which the DLC is being distributed?  I suppose that's an area slightly more gray.
