So...Windows 7...is it really all that kick-ass that the hype makes it out to be?

I'm considering getting *another* new computer (even after the one I just got this past Summer) just so I can get Windows 7, hopefully an OS that doesn't crash when I'm just trying to browse the internet or listen to music...let alone download stuff off the internet...

So, yeah, Windows 7...yay or nay?

Simple: If it's better than Vista, than it's a yay!

Windows and Kick-Ass don't go in the same sentence together, but it's probably just as much of a passable or ho-hum experience as any other version of windows.

There's nothing exciting about an OS, it's "just there".

While I've heard the Windows 7 NAME being advertised, I couldn't tell you any features or abilities that it's supposed to do better, so maybe Microsoft isn't even trying to hype specific features so that they won't get made fun of.

No version of Windows will ever correct the issue with the connection between your keyboard and your chair.

That might be the single best sentence/reply in the history of STC.

???

What, you mean the person sitting in it (the chair)...?

Or, how you hit your keyboard with your chair when you system malfunctions...?

What are the specs on your old computer? And what are you using the browse the internet and listen to music?

Vista isn't that bad if you have enough RAM for it, though 7 is definitely much better with memory management. If you just got a computer this summer, it'd be much cheaper to just upgrade the RAM and OS instead of buying a new one. If you have an old .edu address, you may still be able to get the $30 student price: www.win741.com  Meanwhile, newegg.com generally has good prices on RAM upgrades, and installing new RAM is incredibly easy.

What specs are you asking for?

Internet Browser = Latest Version of Mozilla Firefox.

Music Player = Windows Media Player V.10, maybe V.11

I'm thinking of trying to return my computer to Dell, it's not even been 6 months, and I'm worried about this thing crapping out altogether, and the warranty somehow being voided.

Is it just me, or are Dell computers really little more than kids' toys, e.g., put together really poorly?

I had another computer that I got Summer of 2008, and that thing's still alive and kicking...except for the fact that it somehow lost half of all the programs it had on its hard drive...

You get what you pay for. Though to be honest I'd but Dell above a few other companies.

Granted, I (bought) have a Dell, but that was due to the fact I didn't feel like building one from the ground up since there wasn't any games I was looking to use a PC for.

Processor type/speed and amount of RAM. For example, if you're running Vista with 1 GB of RAM, it's probably not enough.

Internet Browser = Latest Version of Mozilla Firefox.

Music Player = Windows Media Player V.10, maybe V.11

Try Google's Chrome for better stability. Or try uninstalling any Firefox extensions that you don't need.

Sure you don't have any viruses on your computers? Use Malwarebytes to clean them up. If you've got Norton installed, try ditching it for Avast. Older versions of Norton in particular are notorious resource hogs. And if you can, try to uninstall any unneeded bloatware that Dell installed.

I am most thoroughly amused.

I am using Windows 7 64 bit version, and when I try to install iTunes, it won't let me install it. Any suggestions?

Are you using the 64-bit installer? http://www.filehippo.com/download_itunes_64/
