Ever find yourself playing demos almost as much as full games, just because they're quick, easy and disposable? Every once in a while I find one that has decent replayability and it becomes my go-to game for a quick fix. Last year it was a demo for Red Faction: Guerrilla. Lots of entertaining demolition, but with the drawback of an imposed time limit.
Lately I've been having fun with the demo for a cute little PSN title called Polar Panic. Basically it involves a polar bear who pushes ice blocks to smash trappers that are after him. There's a story mode, puzzle mode and survivor mode. I almost didn't give it a second glance but then I got hooked on the survivor mode, which is pretty addictive to me. Good entertainment for being a freebie.

I'll certainly be checking it out.  And speaking of Red Faction, I'll have to give Guerrilla a try too.  I didn't care for the previous games, but a lot of people reportedly felt the same way, but absolutely dug Guerrilla.  Did you end up picking up the full version?

Nope. I had planned to, but at about that time my brother picked up a few cool games off Ebay and I ended up playing them too, after which I revisited my Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion file and completed most all the quests (I love Oblivion!). Then I replayed Uncharted, Eternal Sonata, MGS4.... Hm, guess Guerrilla just got lost in the shuffle like so many other games.

Demos are pretty much all I play these days.  I just don't have the time to commit to full games any more, save for the occassional four-hour download title like Lost Winds 2.  I have to wait for vacation days or snow days to play seriously.  Oh well.

Finally got around to giving Polar Panic a try.  Quite an entertaining puzzler, and one that makes you think on your feet.  The gameplay is almost a carbon copy of Sega's Pengo, with the Sno-Bee enemies replaced by hunters, and Pengo himself by a polar bear.

Will I spring for the full version?  I just might.  There's something richly satisfying with slamming an ice block into an igloo or cabin full of hunters.  big_smile

Played the demo for this one tonight and hated it.  Guess I don't have the patience for this sort of thing.
