"he makes me want to hand myself over"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cme9SGuPEPw

My little brother heard Further Seems Forever (during the Gleason years) do this cover live at a show. He told me how fantastic it was, but I never believed him. I knew (and absolutely adored) the original version of Pagan Poetry. How could it get any better?

Well, seems that in a third and final "compilation & B-Sides" album combining all three vocalists' work, they either newly recorded or else dug up an old recording of FSF's Pagan Poetry.

I thought I would share it with yall. And here's the original Bjork song for comparison.

EDIT -- and a live Bjork recording: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kpSqaHEaH6w

DOUBLE EDIT -- Is anyone able to interpret wtf is said during the screaming section (around the 3 minute mark)? No lyric sheets list it. It's possible that part is sung in Icelandic. Anyone? tongue

"Swirling black lilies totally ripe"

Most sites list it like

"On the surface simplicity
Swirling black lilies totally ripe
But the darkest pit in me
It's pagan poetry
Swirling black lilies totally ripe
Pagan poetry

Swirling black lilies totally ripe"

But it should be more like:

"On the surface simplicity
(Swirling black lilies totally ripe)
But the darkest pit in me
It's pagan poetry
(Swirling black lilies totally ripe)
Pagan poetry

(Swirling black lilies totally ripe)"

Jason Gleason is easily their worst of the 3 vocalists.  And second worst (or second best) lyricist.  John Bunch blows him out of the water. hmm

nope. and another nope. tongue

"Swirling black lilies totally ripe" is what people sing in the background about 100 times. I'm asking about the SCREAMING section starting @ 3:23 on the album recording, 3:36 on the live recording.

No one seems to know what she says there.

Also, IMO Gleason is the best lyricist and vocalist. I think Jon Bunch's voice totally *doesn't* fit the FSF style at all. If I were to rank:

VOCAL PERFORMANCE:
#1 - Gleason
#2 - Carabba
#3 - Bunch

LYRICS:
#1 - Gleason
#2 - Bunch
#2 - Carabba

Unfortunately, Gleason's own project (the Independent, or something like that) is a total waste of time to listen to. But seriously, study the lyrics on How To Start A Fire and let those crazy screams knock your face off.

All this vocalist talk is pure opinion. But everyone I know thinks Jon Bunch was *awful* with FSF. Some people like Gleason most, and others are Carabba purists. I think Hide Nothing is a good album, but the thickness in Bunch's voice irritates me from time to time.

I guess jb and I are the only ones into this sort of thing. tongue

Yeah I couldn't figure it out, but then I realized I only had my iPhone headphones plugged halfway in (I thought was kind alow volume...).  Then it got really busy at work and I forgot about it.  Maybe I'll try at work this week but it's been super busy and I haven't had time to even think.

ps my last.fm top10 2009 is up:

http://www.last.fm/user/sephvbc

pps: carabba had a successful post FSF career, bunch had a successful pre FSF career.  Gleason?  Yeah nothing wink.   Action Reaction is so bad lol.

Yeah that's it, Action Reaction. That SUCKED. But that had everything to do with his band mates IMO.
