I've known about Library Thing for a while, but I recently joined, mainly to gather statistics. I'm curious to see how many books I've read, which is counted by the tags (I just use 'read'). My guess at the high end is 700 and 500 at the low end. I'll know for certain in a few months, once I finish scanning my bookshelves and memories. In fact, I don't even know how many books I have. Here's my profile there (very incomplete):

That asian language book in your library looks particularly interesting. I can already distinguish between the languages you mentioned by hearing them, but I'd like to know more about their history.

Is there any subject that simply doesn't interest you, Kast?

where's The Hardy Boys and Dr.Seuss...

Oh, and my little nephew now has some of those "Choose your own adventure" books, thanks to a nearby library clearing out a whole ton of stuff. Awesome.

Asia's Orthographic Dilemma is the type of book that leaves you humbled. The erudition of the author is beyond anything I will ever likely achieve, despite my efforts to improve my knowledge. The author is actually fluent in Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, and English. The book makes you feel a little bit sorry for anyone speaking or writing in Chinese; I won't say why - you'll have to read it.

There are things that do not interest me. Selling. Drinking games. Fashion. Personal problems of women, especially those problems concerning menstruation.

I probably still have one, along with DRUMMER HOFF and ROCKS IN MY SOCKS. Wow, I just whipped out a 28 year old memory.

I love LibraryThing!
I've been a member for a while smile They have some great groups there, and people are bibliophiles, which is great, because reading is awesome! Of course I love video games too, but if I had to choose, books would definitely come before video games.

cheers,

Back at my parent's house...all of those. I think they have the whole lot of the Hardy Boys (and Nancy Drew). I can't tell you how many Dr. Seuss books I read as a whippersnapper, along with Berenstain Bears. And Choose Your Own Adventure, I read around 100 of those. Possibly, my parents saved them.

Well, I'm done adding those books I have read. Remarkably, the number stands at 400 (I didn't expect such a clean and tidy integer). Although that's lower than my low-estimate of 500, it doesn't include anything I read before age 13, nor any Scientific American magazines. So the number is well above 500.

Edit:

Now it's 403. I just remembered 3 I had forgotten. Irascible integers...
