Qui-Gon Joe Apr 26, 2006

I totally called this the moment they unveiled the Revolution controller.  1up.com has the story.  Here's hoping that the next console sequel to two of my favorite games on the Gamecube manages to be as awesome as they were.  I don't even care if the graphics don't get upgraded from the Cube ones... just as long as the tilting mechanics work well.  So happy!  AiAi!  GonGon!  Baby!  Mimi!  *Animal Crossing-style flowers burst from Joe*

Err.

*ahem*

Anyway, I think this is the first actually announced Revolution title I'm showing little bits of frothing demand for.  Can't wait for E3.

Two words - 'Touch' and 'Roll'.

"For the first time in the Super Monkey Ball franchise, AiAi and his friends will have the ability to jump when players flick the Nintendo Revolution controller in an upward motion. The ability to jump has given game designers another dimension in which to expand the Super Monkey Ball gameplay experience and allows gamers a whole new way to interact with the franchise; this time in true three-dimensional fashion"

What I read in this - forget precision control, it's flailing time.

Doesn't mean it won't be a lot of fun but I can't see its 'innovative' control method actually improving on the original.

My time spent playing Monkey Ball was always in the mini-games, which was much more about multi-player craziness than precision control to me.  So personally I can't wait for the Revolution version.  Just a couple more titles with similar potential and I'm sold on the system, especially if it clocks in for as cheap as people are speculating.
