I had a wonderful dog that lived to be 15 when I was growing up...
Now, many years later, I'm thinking of getting a cat. I would get a dog, but they require much more attention, and a nice backyard, and in grad school you have too little time and no backyard. So, I'm thinking a cat would probably be good. Anyway, if you have any pets, feel free to talk about them... and of course share some pics if you can smile

cheers,

I got five.

Three cats, all of whom are wonderfully idiosyncratic, I also have a leopard gecko and a bearded dragon.

I had a dog for seventeen years who died a couple of years back. My best buddy.

I like dogs.

I went through a lot of pets growing up, but now the only ones I have are peeves. If I had kids I would definitely like to throw some animals into the mix, just because of the great memories I had as a youngster. My family kept outdoor animals, so I'd probably go with something like a few dwarf goats or sheep.

But let's see...I started out with a pet cat, which eventually took off because it probably found better food elsewhere. Then I had an old hamster which didn't live too long. I also used to catch snakes and other critters to keep, but when they refused to eat anything I had to let them go again. We lived in the Bahamas for a while, and my brothers and I kept a bunch of hermit crabs in a screened patio there. Back in the States we lived on about five acres and made it into a personal petting zoo of sorts. We had cats, chickens, ducks, a goose, parakeets & cockatiels, goats, sheep and one cow. At least half of everything died from fox/opossum raids or parasites due to our lack of knowledge on farm animal care. I think I still have a little journal from that time, and it's kinda funny to read it and note all the entries of death. For instance, "Arizona (a goat) finally died today after getting sick from eating the azalea bushes by the house." Good times, though.

Ah, my favorite subject! You'll have to pardon the poor pictures; I just never seem to have a camera handy when they're doing cute things like everyone else does. ^^;

My dog, Yuri (husky chow mix):

My current foster dog, Sydney (rott hound mix):

My black domestic long-haired kitty, Armando (I didn't name him, for the record):

My domestic short-haired gray tabby, Muffin:

And I'm proud to say that Yuri, Sydney, Armando, and Muffin are all rescues. ^_^ I also have a cinnamon whiteface cockatiel named Zephyr, but I unfortunately don't have any pictures of her handy thanks to a recently deceased hard drive. Oh, and I have a 29 gallon fish tank too, but all that's in there at the moment is a gluttonous Eclipse catfish that decided to eat my African cichlids (talk about a food chain reversal). In the past, I've also had rats, mice, hamsters, gerbils, guinea pigs, and aquatic turtles.

So yeah, the moral of the story is that you shouldn't work at a pet store if you have a soft spot for animals. XD

Currently a dog, Mini Schnauzer/Yorkshire Terrier/Maltese mix.

Two tarantulas : One adult female Chilean Rosehair and one Mexican Fireleg spiderling 1.5".

Expecting 3 more this week : All spiderlings, a East African Horned Baboon, a Costa Rican Tiger Rump and a Brazillian Salmon Pink Birdeater.

This would be the extent of my pets for the time being.

I'll second that. Your household must be active and full of furry fun 24/7!
