This thread is to get an idea of what the tastes of posters here are. One post per person please.

This year I am looking forward to:

XBOX360
Death Smiles
Vanquish
Max Payne 3

Nintendo Wii
Metroid: Other M

edit: I removed Sin & Punishment 2 after reading Iwata Asks on it. It's gone to rental status.

GoldfishX Jun 7, 2010

Marvel vs Capcom 3 details.
New Darkstalkers details.
Guilty Gear Online (awaiting confirming of rumor...but I'll buy Accent Core a 3rd time if they just do that!)
Rock Band 3 (tracklist more or less will determine if I actually buy...hoping for a gameplay mode similar to Unplugged).
Any of the Xseed Falcom games that might sneak out this year (fingers crossed...oh yeah, will also need a PSP to play them on. Minor, insignificant detail)
Hard Corps: Uprising

I already got Sakura Wars V and Super Street Fighter IV this year (plus another classic Megaman game), so this year is already ahead of the curve, gamewise. Might also like to see that Data East comp hit something other than the Wii.

Idolores Jun 7, 2010

What am I looking forward to? Let me echo Goldfish X by saying I'm looking forward to more Marvel vs Capcom 3 and (at least the remote possibility of) Darkstalkers. The latter is easily my favorite fighting game franchise, though some would argue I lack the credentials to even say I'm a fan.

June 14th looks interesting; If the teasers are any indication, it looks like Valve is going to announce another entry in the Half-Life universe. I don't know if it'll be Episode 3 or just a straight up Half Life 3. Hoping it's the latter; the Source engine is nice, but it's aging pretty fast.

Amazingu Jun 7, 2010

Lessee...

Like Idolores, I'm looking forward to some Half-Life 3 (or Episode 3) action, cos it's about bloody time.
I'm interested in hearing more about the 3DS obviously, and perhaps Sony will surprise us with some early PSP2 footage?

Other points of interest:
- new Zelda on Wii
- new Kingdom Hearts game (3 hopefully)
- Anything Mega Man
- Anything Resident Evil

And that's about it.
So, Squenix, Nintendo and Capcom will be the ones I'm looking most forward to.

Zorbfish Jun 7, 2010

XBox360
Fallout: New Vegas if that is still planned for this year.

PS3
I might buy one if Atlus releases a new Megaten game on it this year.

Angela Jun 8, 2010

E3 will almost certainly pad out the listing further, but here's what's in my immediate line of sight:

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker (PSP)
Death Smiles (360)
Mega Man Zero Collection (DS)
Sin & Punishment: Star Successor (Wii)

Further on down the road:

Metroid: Other M (Wii)
Gunblade NYC & LA Machine Guns (Wii)
NBA Jam (Wii)
Dead Rising 2 (360/PS3)
Hard Corps: Uprising (360/PS3)
Valkyria Chronicles 2 (PSP)
Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep (PSP)
Okamiden (DS)
Dragon Quest IX (DS)
Final Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light (DS)

I'm probably only going to be able to tummy at least one RPG for the year, so I'm leaning toward Valkyria Chronicles 2 or The 4 Heroes of Light once they hit.  Gears of War 3 isn't this year, but it's singularly the most anticipated game on my list right now.

Tim JC Jun 8, 2010

I'm interested in a number of the high profile games listed above by others, but I think the one that has me most excited right now is Ys SEVEN.

Bernhardt Jun 8, 2010 (edited Jun 8, 2010)

Basically anything new coming out on the Wii:

Arc Rise Fantasia - I'm saving some trade-ins for this one...
Sin & Punishment 2
Xenoblade / Monado

Some of them being released at the end of JULY, practically when Summer's already over, definitely isn't sitting well with me, though.

Games-I-care-about-but-haven't-played-yet-despite-being-released-some-time ago:

Final Fantasy ~ Crystal Bearers
Fragile ~ Farewell, Ruins of the Moon
No More Heroes 2
Oboro Muramasa
Super Mario Galaxy 2

It's kind of like, I have the system already, so I might as well make use of it, but somehow, I really couldn't care less about anything on the 360 or PS3.

I remember how comic books eventually became too much for me to keep up with; video-games will probably end up becoming too much for me to keep track of, as well.

The PS2 era really exhausted me with some pretty "Bleh" games; FFX, being excellent IMO, and being my first PS2 game, made it my standard, and many other games, I think just couldn't compare with it.

I suppose I'll end up checking out FFXIII and FFXIII Versus eventually, and NieR looks just a bit interesting, but the only reason I check out a lot of games these days, is because of the awesome soundtracks that they have.

Otherwise, there're still quite a few titles I could stand to see on Wii VC.

Smeg Jun 8, 2010

I am looking forward to a new apartment, a possible dating prospect, learning to cook some new things and another badass New Year's bash.

Qui-Gon Joe Jun 8, 2010

Well, since I now have a house and am sort of settled into my payments for that and can start budgeting for ANYTHING else again, let's see what's coming up that I'll want to get!

Upcoming:
Anything Falcom that Xseed gets out the door this year
Arc Rise Fantasia (they'd better have the option to turn off voice acting... stupid Ignition)
Metroid: Other M
Portal 2
Xenoblade (though I don't know if I believe NoA will ever give us any non-Mario game ever again)

Games that are already out that I would've bought if I had the money, so now I'll get when they're cheap:
3D Dot Game Heroes
Final Fantasy XIII
Monster Hunter 3
No More Heroes 2
Red Dead Redemption
Wario Ware: DIY

I'm sure I'm forgetting something, but that's what comes to mind off-hand!

SonicPanda Jun 8, 2010 (edited Jun 8, 2010)

On my short-term radar are both Peace Walker and the Zero Collection. The website I had ordered the artbooked version of PW called yesterday to tell me they did not get said artbooks, but knocked some money off of the standard edition as an apology. Hopefully after payday, eBay can give me what I want.

Further on there's DQ9 in May (with DQ6 hopefully dated at E3), Ghost Trick slated for September and Four Warriors of Light in October (they say it's FF3DS' engine, only fast....here's hoping), and a host of other things besides.

On the speculation front, Ippo Yamada recently annonced on his blog that Inti's working on a new game, and it seems too soon after MM10 to be another Classic entry. If they reveal they're finally making ZX3, that'll make my MONTH.

EDIT:

Seems like it. I'm amused that it's the only bold print in the article.

XLord007 Jun 12, 2010 (edited Jun 14, 2010)

For upcoming games that I know about, I'll probably get these (like Angela said, I'm sure E3 will reveal more):

For 2010:

-Sin & Punishment: Star Successor (Wii)
-Metroid: Other M (Wii)
-Zelda (Wii)
-Ys Seven (PSP)
-Shantae: Risky's Revenge (DSi, though I will probably get it on 3DS)
-Ghost Trick (DS)
-Hard Corps: Uprising (PS3)
-Castlevania: Lords of Shadow (PS3) [won't buy until it gets cheap]

For 2011:

-Ys I&II (PSP)
-Ys: Oath in Felghana (PSP)
-Okamiden (DS)
-Ico/Shadow Bundle (PS3) [rumored]
-Last Guardian (PS3)
-Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 (PS3)
-Metal Gear Solid Rising (PS3)

Stuff that's already out that I'm wating for price drops on:

-Heavy Rain (PS3)
-Batman: Arkham Asylum (PS3)

Stuff to buy if I ever get the systems they run on:

-Rez HD (360)
-Shadow Complex (360)
-Perfect Dark (360)
-X-Scape (DSi)

Ashley Winchester Jul 15, 2010

Is anyone else getting nervous about Castlevania: Lords of Shadow? The more I see/read about it the more worried I get that's it's gonna become a God of War clone.

I thought they were pretty clear about that being their original intent, to be honest. I'll probably watch my brother-in-law play some of it, since that'd be a selling point for him.
