Only from the Open Forum here. I've decided to shift all of my weird, strange and arcane thoughts to Facebook. I retired from my blog as well. I need everything in one place online, since I now work two jobs. I write during the day and manage the restaurant at night. Facebook provides me with amusement after work and the ability to communicate with some of the people I see on a daily basis, before I start my night-time researching.

I can't wait to retire for real. (I've been told it's not boring.)

I thought the point was to provide amusement during work.

You know human speech works just as easy as Facebook, right?

Considering who you're talking to, such a suggestion is pointless.

As opposed to non-human speech?

Worth ruling out the text-to-speech software option.

The theme of Facebook:

Blank File by Sonata Arctica

It is your new best friend, new eye in your private den
And you can find the world inside it every day
They know what you did today, hear everything you say
And when they send you mail,
they know where you will go sometime next day

They know your life, they have a file about you
They built your life, so they...

Know what you like and know what you yearn
but they don't know a thing about me
I'm not that easy, I'm blank file in their memory

Caught in the web again, inside your private den
Where you can go to moon
or meet some people you will never see
You are a file in there, money in an open fair
You're a slave among the slaves, waiting for future with a fear

They know your life, they have a file about you
They built your life, so they...

Know what you like and know what you yearn
but they don't know a thing about me
I'm not that easy, I'm blank file in their memory

Less inane drivel on the forums is always a better thing.  Thank god.

Jodo: Yeah, know what you mean. So many forums and sites. And as usual, forum members here totally crack me up. ^_~

^ How come we never see a lot of you anymore, Schala?

Pretty much same reason here: Been really busy with work and personal life. Just went through more than a year of insanity at work only to have MORE craziness ending with a merger. I have, however, FINALLY started Twilight Princess! Only to develop RSI soon after so it looks like I'm forced to go to the Gamecube version.

This morning you posted a really interesting thing on religion, conformity, and insurance companies. I wrote out a lengthy response, and when I hit post, it said I wasn't allowed to reply. I was like "dag, did he delete the thing?"

But now it looks like YOUR ENTIRE FACEBOOK ACCOUNT has disappeared.

What gives?

I already responded to you in email, but I did post it to my blog in 2009 (which I forgot to tell you). My Facebook page did not have much that was new; I was copying and pasting stuff from my hard drive I had previously written. Here it is, if you (or anyone else) wants to read it:

Facebook, I felt, was like a drug. I thought about it when I wasn't using it, which I correlated with a state of mental unhealthiness.

I have also discovered that 'texting' is unhealthy. This has nothing to do with texting while driving. I am talking about texting within the confines of one's habitat.

Life is sloshing and joshing me these days. I thought I had a handle, but this place (the Earth) is really crazy.

Basically nobody has a handle, but if you can view that as a positive, then your level of freedom increases from worrying about it to just embracing it.

Oh, and speaking of retirement, I've successfully gone this entire year of 2010 so far without importing a single vgm cd, which is the longest stretch ever during the past DECADE. So I think it's safe to say that's one addictive habit successfully conquered.

That is impressive, but I love vgm too much. I can't imagine not keeping up with my favorite artists. It'd be like ignoring my health or never washing my car; some things just must be done.

I learned something interesting about myself on Tuesday. It may explain all sorts of problems I have, including depression. Due to a strange pain at the base of my spine, my doctor ordered an MRI done on me. They ruled out cancer but found a cyst pressing against nerves. It may have been there for years. I've considered telling the thing "Cease and decyst!" My goal is to solve this without back surgery.

Holy shit, man!
Are you gonna be okay?

The doctor caused me to panic at first, because she called a neurologist and he said that I had a neurosurgical emergency. They downgraded my status after the MRI, since it turned out to be a cyst. They originally thought I had Cauda equina syndrome.

I won't know what type of cyst it is until Monday. I also hope they can tell me how long it's been there.

The MRI experience itself was pretty terrifying. The problem stemmed from wondering what would happen if something happened to the operator, and caused me to panic. I can't tell you how I didn't squeeze the little panic balloon. If they do forget about you, then you're stuck.

It's fascinating to me how things have changed. CD-R copies only have value when I use my headphone system. And within a few years I am probably going to throw all of them away (not sure why anyone would want them as I could just load them all onto a little drive). I upgraded my car stereo to a head unit that supports a USB flash drive; that really cleaned up my car.

Yep, cd-rs are very much a dying medium. Wonder how many years the current USB based devices have before they too will get replaced by something else.

It will probably be in our clothes. Imagine putting on your socks, walking into friend's living room, and seeing your videos playing on his TV. You'd have to be careful to hide your porn in that tech set-up. The next logical step is to put this tech into our bodies. I don't think we're going to be seeing all of this "stuff". We could probably even be naked and have access to every book, music CD, movie, magazine, person, etc. That's it. Nothing else to do. Just walk around naked all day and know everything.
