Heads up, Last Airbender fans -- we're about to get that highly rumored new animated series!

"Nickelodeon has announced a new series from the creators of cartoon epic 'Avatar: The Last Airbender.'  The new show from Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko has the working title of 'The Legend of Korra' and will premiere on Nickelodeon in 2011."

More details at the above link, and even more will certainly be announced during Comic-Con this week.  That one piece of art work looks terrific, and I'm already digging the idea of a new steampunk-style era.

There's an interview with DiMartino and Konietzko.  I rather liked their subtle (or maybe not so subtle) responses at brushing off the questions about what they thought about Shyamalan's film.

Awesome news! Very glad to have confirmation that the world of Avatar will be returning. The new premise sounds great too! I'll definitely be keeping an eye on Legend of Korra.

Watching The Last Airbender series again, I've certainly begun noticing the music more.  Which is great to hear that The Track Team's Jeremy Zuckerman will be returning to handle compositional and sound duties for the new series.

Man, that blew my mind. Not only does it look gorgeous, but it looks very promising as well. Can't wait for more!

I read this post, and I keep thinking Legend of Kage...

Looks kind of like what would result if you crossed Naruto with Full Metal Alchemist.

I enjoyed what I saw of Avatar, but the dumb humor killed a bit of the enjoyment for me. I hope this series has less of that.
