Ryu May 1, 2006

Oddly enough, this is the first month that I recall not anticipating the purchase of anything, not a single game or DVD.  I intend on getting New Super Mario Bros for the DS eventually, since my birthday is early next month.

Cram May 1, 2006

I'm sure after E3 i'll end up preordering a game or two. Maybe even a console with a retarded name. Like Ryu, I do not anticipate anything. Except for hitting the refresh button on IGN and Bluesnews websites during E3.

The Mother 1+2 piano album can be purchased at HMV.co.jp.  They do accept international orders:

I don't know if any other sites will stock it, since it appears to be coming from an independent record label.  Amazon Japan might be another possibility.

CDs are the name of the game this month:

Misa - Koi no Golden Goal CD Single
Okami Original Soundtrack
Ace Combat Zero Original Soundtrack
Mission: Impossible 3 Original Motion Picture Score

I'm surprised that the Okami OST got bumped up to a five disc set; it's pricey, but you certainly can't argue for lack of musical completion.  Can we also hope for spiffy packaging, too?  Spiffy packaging for a spiffy looking game.

I was disappointed that Ace Combat Zero got pushed to this month, but the available online game rip proves that Nakatsuru and gang created another amazing masterpiece.  Currently my top contender for game music score of the year, with the stage track "ZERO" being one of the greatest VGM pieces I've ever heard.

As for Mission: Impossible 3, I'm picking it up on Giacchino's name alone.  I'm hyped for the movie on Friday.

For games, New Super Mario Bros. is a no-brainer, but if Nintendo goes through with releasing the DS Lite this month, I'll pick up another one too.

Any idea who composed this?  I played the game for a little bit and the music was very nice.  Five discs of that would definitely warrant a purchase for me.  Absolutely BEAUTIFUL game too!

Anyway, my small May list:

New Super Mario Bros, the Final Fantasy XII OST, and whatever merch they have at PLAY!

New Super Mario Brothers is really the only thing I can think of by name. Anything else will be pure impulse.

Just made an order for the OSTs to FFXII, Grandia III, Advent Children, and Tales of Legendia...

What is this?  More information please.

The only thing for me that is certain is the Beatmania IIDX RED Complete Set, because, well, I'm a Bemani completist fanboy.  Maybe another copy of Guild Wars: Factions as well, so that I can play with my lady friend.

But, since I'm moving at the end of the month (again), I need to curb my purchases for a little bit, especially since I'll be paying double rent for a month and a half.

Thanks for the info!  I'll have to see if I can figure it out.

Wow, only 1260 yen?
Any idea what the tracklisting is, or how many tracks it has?

Alex May 2, 2006

Ah, so you're a Giacchino fan too, Angela?  I'll be buying the soundtrack to Mission: Impossible III also, and although technically I ordered it in April, my Lost soundtrack should arrive in a few days too.  Muppet Wizard of Oz comes out on the 17th, but I'm waiting to see if it actually has anything by Michael Giacchino on it before I buy a copy.  I'm afraid it may be just another song album with none of the score like Sky High.  Sigh.

Wow, the CDJapan listing claims this album is remastered?

Timt99 May 3, 2006

Ace Combat Zero is a definite buy. My favorite AC track of all time is Track 3: Safe Return on Disc 2 of AC 04 OST. Good stuff!

Wanderer May 12, 2006

Just the FFXII OST for me. Nothing else really interests me...
