R.I.P. Solaris, June 2008-October 2010

I named her Solaris, because she was my sunshine...I mean, her default background image was that of the sun setting on the beach! What a great background image to start off with!

She was a Creative Labs 2007 Zen MP3 player. She was compact, lightweight, and she had very dainty, feminine buttons that were responsive and cooperative.

She played music beautifully for me, and she always accepted requests; she let me weave playlists of single, individual tracks, from multiple different albums on the device itself, without having to use my PC, and she would remember those playlists when I asked her to.

Never have I had such a great partner. She will get the best casket I have, and it will fit her petite body perfectly, I will keep her with me, and I will always respect the service she paid to me.

I suppose, the time will come, when I will seek another partner. But, for now, I must grieve and mourn, as is right.

I'm sorry, I know this is a somber occassion but I couldn't help burst out laughing when I read this - just your wording you know.

Eheh, yeah...I'm one of those people who doesn't interpret things very sexually, I guess...

I remember people talking about the Ar-Tonelico series, and all the sexual innuendo there in, I was like, "How did you get ... out of ... ?!"

All a matter of interpretation, I guess.

...

It always gets to me when a multi-hundred dollar asset bites the dust, and it's always a pain trying to find a replacement.

I think this model is still in production, or at least, still on sale, but there's always a matter of whether the successor will be a lemon or not. There's been instances in which I've bought a second unit of the same item, that ended up being a horrendous failure, but I'm not too fond of any of the newer models that Creative has out now, either.

The 2007 Creative Labs ZEN was everything I wanted in an MP3 player, EXACTLY, and I mean EXACTLY the way I'd want my MP3 player: It's like someone read my mind, took that mental blueprint, and brought it to life...

Everything from the buttons, to being able to create playlists, add and remove from said playlist, and even SAVE said playlist...these are features that other players just don't have. As simple as they are, why aren't other producers able to incorporate these features...?
