I recently purchased a handful of games off of eBay recently: Star Gladiator, Plasma Sword, Rival Schools, Syphon Filter 3 and Destruction Derby 2. So far, I received the first three (my god, that Rival Schools was in psychotically good condition) but haven't gotten the last two: well, I think I may have gotten one of the last two but there's a problem.

I opened up the package of what I thought was going to be Destruction Derby 2 (it clearly wasn't Syphon Filter 3 because it comes in a double case despite being a single disc game a la Suikoden) and got an odd surprise: a copy of the original Syphon Filter. I don't really know what to think here; this package says it came from Florida while the remaining two games I'm waiting for are listed to ship from California and Oakland respectively.

Additionally, the name of the sender is really, really familiar to me for some reason... I really can't say for certain that it's someone that I've dealt with at CC or STC, but damn, it seems familiar to me for just that reason. It seems pretty odd someone would send me something out of the blue like that. If that's the case I appreciate it (I love the PS1 Syphon Filter trilogy) but I'm really at a loss here if it is coinciding with all these other packages.

Getting to the point, has anyone ever gotten a package from a different location than what was listed on the auction page? I curious if someone is trying to play a switch-a-roo on me and trying to make it hard for me to prove this is what they sent me or if it is indeed just a random act of kindness.

Anyways, all I can do is see how the mail pans out in the next few days. Stay tuned for further Super Sexy Action News updates!

a seller mixing up items does not automatically constitute a scam, although ebay sets the atmosphere encouraging buyers to keep their triggerfinger on the OPEN-CLAIM button since the mere act ope opening a claim helps sellers lose their ebay fee discounts.

how much cough medicine have you been drinking

Dude, the title of the thread may say "eBay scam" but you see that "?" after it, that means it's a question, not a statement. I simply pointed out something weird was going on and even pointed to other possibilities. Like I said, the name seemed familar to someone I delt with on this or another board so I was trying to get some info if they still visit here. I plain as day said I wasn't going to charge right in and attack either seller - I simply have no idea which it is if it is either and was planning to see if those packages showed up in the following days - so why don't you calm down and quit taking the ecstasy.

I'll admit that "eBay Scam" may have not been the best title for this thread but at least it wasn't "eBay Scam!" I was mainly curious if you could screw someone over with a different/faulty address.

If the seller is a store, it could very easily be that they have different branches in different parts of the country, and send from whatever branch has it in stock. I've seen plenty of places do it that way. It could be just a simple mistake of either taking the wrong thing,  such as someone seeing Syphon Filter and not noticing the 3 (not as bad as a couple idiotic things I've gotten from GoHastings on Amazon Marketplace....)

I actually have all the boxes, and I really like that episode; I'm usually good with references like that but that one flew over my head despite sparking it.
