Just saw a trailer for this. Looks very promising, although it received mixed reviews. Has anyone played it and what are your thoughts?

I bought it when it came out in Japan a couple months back, because it looked cool, and it looked like the kind of small artistic title that should be supported.

I sold it off a couple of days later, because it just really isn't very good.

I'm glad to see that a lot of reviewers are recognizing it for the extremely mediocre game and missed chance that it is, without falling for the aesthetics and obvious ICO aspirations.

It takes about 10 minutes to get used to the general gimmicks, and you can get through pretty much every situation in the game from then on without thinking. Combat is clunky. They increase game time by having you walk back and forth across levels to throw switches, and the cool concept that they have is never truly used to do anything clever.

It's a missed chance, that's really the only way I can describe it.

I didn't know there were already reviews out, so I looked around, and this one sums it up perfectly:

Couldn't have said it better myself.

I was going to spring on this title when it finally went down to $20 USD, but I probably won't even end up buying it then...thanks for the intel!

Ah, that is unfortunate, but thanks for the link to the review. I do hope we see other innovative games that end up being actually good as opposed to mediocre at best.

Actually, the guy at the Game X-Change was talking about this one and it made me think of this read. Unfortunately, there really isn't any more to the story, so...
