Those who've been keeping up with me know how much more and more I'm digging indie and avant-garde, and my interests have brought me close to independent, short films that are very surrealistic, and avant-garde styled.

Here's just a couple of them:

Varmints (Trailer): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RJQ4RTo6hRg

What I like about this piece, is that it lets the music and imagery speak for it; there's absolutely no dialogue to be heard. You have to love it when filmmakers capitalize on the visual aspect of story-telling, especially when film is a visual medium.

I've gotten more out of this 24-minute piece than any other half-hour or almost half-hour I've watched EVER. Why, I've probably gotten more out of this than any 2 or 2-and-a-half full-length feature film, Hollywood or otherwise.

This was a real tearjerker for me. Couldn't help but get choked up. They really knew how to tug at your hear strings.

And really, I wouldn't have even found it about it, if not for Johann Johannsson, who composed the film's soundtrack, found here: http://www.amazon.com/Endless-Pause-The … 980&sr=1-3

It's essentially a direct adaptation of the original book, found here: http://www.amazon.com/Varmints-Helen-Wa … 266&sr=1-1

Mind you, this's only a trailer for the full piece; you can find the full length piece on iTunes, for $2 USD.

Generous of them to put the full piece up on YouTube for free!

Guy tries to free girl from evil circus ringleader. Dig the highly stylized creatures. Music's also good, too.

Gotta love how Europeans have so much more taste for art than us Americans do!

Feel free to post your own finds! I'm interested to see if anyone else has their own picks!
