Just looking at it reminds me of his stories, which give me creepier memories than any other horror writer or even any horror movie or video game. The particular story in which I envisioned a similar house (minus the tentacles) was The Music of Erich Zann.

If you're a fan of Lovecraft you really should read William Hope Hodgson. Like Lovecraft, Hodgson isn't perfect, but I think he paints a wonderful surreal and errie atmosphere. I recommend you start off with House on the Borderland. Great stuff!

Not truly related to Lovecraft by any stretch of the imagination, but you two might like a short story I read a little while ago, I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream, by Harlan Ellison. It's an incredibly chilling tale about the apocalypse as brought on by a vengeful supercomputer. After finishing it, I immediately thought you two might enjoy it.

That story is being brought up a LOT ever since Portal 2 was released.

I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if GlaDOS was inspired by AM. Ironic that people talk about it so much now; Harlan Ellison's story predated Portal by nearly 40 years.
