Really not a whole lot to say about Microsoft's conference.  The presser was broken into a few manly hardcore games, some core games with Kinect functionality tacked on, expanded services like YouTube, Bing, UFC, and IPTV (this would have been more exciting if they had announced U.S. providers -- they only mentioned European providers), and then a bunch of family friendly Kinect games.  The big finish was the announcement of Halos 4-6 which was already spoiled a few hours earlier.  At least the new Tomb Raider looks pretty impressive, though that's hardly exclusive.

Tomb Raider does look pretty great so far. The rest was a Kinectathon which, for the most part, meant on-rails games with waving. Absolutely no interest in that whatsoever. Oh, and Bing. Yay.

Back when the Xbox 360 was still up and coming, Microsoft managed to hit all the right buttons to get me on board.  The combination of two promised Sakaguchi RPGs, actively courting a wide variety of Japanese developers, the promise of Rare's being brought back into the spotlight, and even an exclusive new game from the people who brought me Eternal Darkness sold me, and there was NO question which of the HD consoles I wanted.  It was like they were catering directly to ME, personally.

Flash forward to 2011 and it's obvious that my tastes are totally irrelevant (which should ALREADY have been obvious considering my favorite consoles of each generation...).  No RPGs.  No Japanese developers to speak of at all.  Rare has been well and thoroughly destroyed by MS's mishandling, and I find myself seeing NOTHING worthwhile for me on the horizon at all.

Really hoping that Sony manages to pull off something tonight and that Nintendo's conference tomorrow gives me something to look forward to, because this year's E3 (now at this point have seen MS, EA, and Ubisoft) has been a bust thus far.  sad

I friggin' HATE Bing.

But that's mostly because it's the name of an ex-girlfriend I don't have a lot of positive memories of sad

Was that her last name or first name?

Her first, actually.
She's Chinese.

She shares her last name with Angela.
And Lucy.

well, there's still Steel Battalion and Project Draco!
(which are both admittedly Kinect-driven...)

I was hoping they'd at least shine a light on the support they're enjoying from Treasure of late; dates for Radiant Silvergun and Guardian Heroes would've gone a long way. As it is, I don't have the space requirements for Kinect, and even if I were a Halo fan I would be wary of a yet-unproven dev picking up the reins. So yeah, as far as what they went into at the presentation, MS did nothing for me.

Did those actually get shown/mentioned at the press conference (I missed the very beginning)?

I don't remember seeing them this year, so he might just be bringing them up in general.
