I think Sony did a good job apologizing for the PSN debacle, so props to them for that.  Outside of that, the Sony conference was DULL.  BioShock Infinite looks amazing, but that's not an exclusive, and I feel bad for Ken Levine for having to go up there and try to explain why he's shoving move controls into the game without saying "Sony drove a dump truck full of money up to my house."  All the move and Vita games look exceptionally boring, and I simply don't care about things like Uncharted, Resistance, and Little Big Planet.  Notice that there was nothing on any The Last Guardian (which is presumably being saved for TGS), but at least we don't have to wait until 2012 for the Team Ico HD Collection.  There wasn't third party stuff there either (let's not mention the lame Kobe Bryant 2K Sports segment).  Yoshinori Ono made a nice showing for SFxTK, but fighting games don't feel right on portables no matter how pretty the graphics are, so I'll get that on PS3 if I get it at all.

The biggest news from Sony were the Vita announcements of its release window and price.  The price is fantastic at $250 for the Wifi ($300 for Wifi+3G), and that should put pressure on Nintendo's arguably overpriced 3DS, but I'm skeptical about their "Holiday 2011" release window.  Will they really be able to get it out in all major territories by the end of the year?

Best moment of the presser was when Kaz got booed for saying AT&T has the fastest 3G network.  That rocked.

Yeah, the price point for the Vita was the only interesting thing to come out of Sony's show, and it DOES put Nintendo in a very tight spot. I wouldn't be surprised to see the 3DS drop in price before the end of the year, especially since it doesn't seem to be doing all that well.

Anyhoo, I'm sure Nintendo will have the best show anyway.

Didn't Apple actually run an advertisement where their users were counting minutes until they could use someone besides AT&T? Sounds like the WiFi system might be the better offer. At this point, I just want to support Vita because Sony isn't being a dick like Nintendo about region-coding.

Sony at least had some games of interest to talk about (Sly 4 and Team Ico in particular), so they're ahead of MS there, but again, there was an awful lot of focus on integrating Move into everything. It's worth noting that despite playing through the story mode last winter with my sister, I wasn't even aware LBP2 hadn't had its Move functionality integrated yet, even as I had recently gotten a Move set for my birthday.

Despite buying the most recent entries of each, I can't pretend to be excited about Street Fighter X Tekken (or vice versa) at all. Capcom vs Namco (as a fighting game) would be better, and I might even still care if I thought they'd attempt bringing in some of the less-exposed characters (Skullomania would be hilarious), but I don't give Capcom that sort of credit anymore after MvC3's roster.

I agree that Capcom vs. Namco would be better since we could get a much larger variety of characters.  As for Skullomania, I think I saw Ono mention on twitter that Arika owns the rights to the EX exclusive characters, not Capcom.

Sure enough, Jack Tretton was on GTTV this morning backing down from this.  Now he's only committing to Japan in 2011.  Claims that they meant by the end of Sony's fiscal year (March 31), not the end of the calendar year.  Whatever, Jack.

Sony announced today that the the Vita will hit the U.S. and Europe on February 22, 2012.  No launch games were announced, and they also haven't announced Western pricing for the unbelievably overpriced (in Japan) memory cards.
