I love the art in Vanillaware's games.  I just wish they played as well as they looked (I got bored of Muramasa pretty quickly).  This one reminds me of Guradian Heroes and Capcom's old D&D brawlers.

it's like an evolved golden axe game, 4 player co-op. they can't afford to mess this up smile

God bless you, Vanillaware. I might be getting a PS3 just for this; their other efforts, save for Grim Grimoire (which I haven't even played), have impressed me so goddamn much.

Darkheim Jun 24, 2011

This was one of my favorite E3 announcements. Looking forward to it.

I think aesthetically the game looks awful.  That flat, cut-out look of the characters is similar to Muramasa I guess but with the larger sprites and gaudy character designs doesn't look nearly as nice.

Would love to see a successor to Golden Axe and Guardian Heroes but for me I doubt this is it.

You're not basing that solely on the aesthetic, are you? Both Odin Sphere and Muramasa had quite a bit of depth considering that they were basically beat-'em-ups at heart.

As do I.

I believe he posted here under a different name with lots of numbers in it in recent times, though.

Personally, I love the stylized + hand-drawn/painted aesthetic. It gives a storybook atmosphere to what seems to me to be a purposefully old-school-style beat-em-up. It's kind of how I imagined the next logical visual step for RPGs before 3D came along and blazed the new trail.

Journey for PS3 also looks amazing to me, as does El Shaddai (with the exception of the character faces, I must say).

Yes, I was JMJ20320514 for a while before I dropped off. Not just from forums, but from gaming in general.

Looks pretty awesome!
It's supposed to come out on March 31, and the NA release price... $30! When was the last time a new PS3 game was released at $30!

I just saw that amazon has Grand Knights History for pre-order! Looks like more Vanillaware goodness smile

It's 2013 now and I'm wondering from if anyone here in this thread picked the game up? I don't own a PS3 but will pick this up soon enough to play at a friend's house. I hope the game is selling well in the US as 4 player co-op games deserve great appreciation.

Dragon's Crown sold more than 300,000 copies in Japan within the first week of release across both PS3 and Vita platforms.
