I checked out Horrible Bosses today and had my expectations fairly high. Unfortunately, it was disappointing for me. It's another of those crude comedy films where the situations are ridiculously over the top, but in some weird sense they still seem the teeny tiniest bit plausible.
I believe I mentioned before, I really enjoyed The Hangover in theaters, was bored with it when attempting to rewatch on TV, and never bothered to see the sequel. Horrible Bosses very much felt like my first viewing of The Hangover, but super lite mode. It was more evident in this one that the movie makers were taking a simple premise and shouting "look at the insanity we can create from this!". I also did not find myself laughing aloud much at all. The majority of the comedy just ever so slightly missed the mark for me. I would have preferred that the movie was even more over the top. It certainly seemed like Horrible Bosses was trying desperately to get there, but... The final resolutions with the three bosses, while not bad, didn't fully satisfy me either.
I didn't hate the movie. It was entertaining to a decent degree, but that nagging feeling of "this could have been better" just kept creeping into my head.
I will say, while I am fairly indifferent to Jennifer Aniston overall, I got some amount of enjoyment finally seeing a movie where she's not such a "good girl".
Has anyone else seen this movie yet?
Edit: Oh! I also saw Bad Teacher this week, which I found much more amusing. Perhaps that is because I'm actually a teacher. It's not really a quality film, but I was entertained!
