I go check out the list of declared Nintendo Wii, DS, and Gamecube games, and there is a large number of games I'm very interested in.  The DS game list is staggering with stuff coming out the 2nd half of this year.

Did Nintendo save up all their news for E3? o_O

I agree...Outside of Valkyrie Profile Silmeria, my most anticipated games are mostly Nintendo ones. It doesn't get any better than Super Paper Mario (THE game of the show, thus far) Kirby DS and Yoshi's Island 2 (and just the mention of a new Fire Emblem is enough to get my ears perked up). And this is without seeing anything of GC Kirby and the new Smash Brothers or considering New SMB hits in a couple days.

One I wasn't expecting to be interested in was Metroid Prime 3 (wasn't too fond of the first one), but the realization of how the controller was going to function with it has me looking for more info on it.

And I think SNK and Nintendo make a nice pair...Metal Slug Anthology for Wii and a new Cardfighters Clash for the DS (maybe as good a surprise as SPM). That's just the tip of the 3rd party DS iceberg: Megaman ZX, Magical Vacation, FF3, Cooking Mama and a new Metrovania.

It's scary, comparing Nintendo at this time last year and this year...Didn't think they'd be headlining one of the strongest E3's I've ever seen.

You know, I agree with you, and so it makes this editorial from Spong all the more intriguing:  http://news.spong.com/article/10015  Basically, I agree with Spong's assessment that Nintendo seemed a bit... downplayed and subdued during their conference.  While it was great to give the two hyped up games some due, Zelda:TP and Red Steel, it is still shocking that've revealed a whole lot more in the 24 hours since their conference ended.  I'm not sure what to make of it, but I'm greatly surprised at how much is waiting for the Wii and DS.

I'm waiting, though, for more impressions to come in about the Wiimote in action, even from the Nintendo-haters.

"Underpromise and overdeliver" seems to be Nintendo's behavior.  When they quoted the Gamecube polygon specs, it was very conservative estimate.  When they quoted the Wavebird's range, it was a very conservative estimate.

I guess Nintendo doesn't want to hype so much that they can't meet people's expectations.

Heh, even some love for the good old GBA:

The Summon Night series gets a domestic release! Might even lead to the console games seeing translations.

And not Nintendo-related, but still huge: Princess Crown 2 (aka: Odin Sphere) gets domestic as well for PS2.

*starts saving money for all the upcoming games*

And don't forget that article also confirms a localization for Deep Labyrinth, a fairly obscure cell phone port rpg written by Masato Kato with music by Yasunori Mitsuda.  I really thought that one never had a chance of coming to the states.  I'm really happy that Atlus is picking up some of these DS games that I never thought we'd see in English.
