another nut-job who somehow became a politician...
maybe not the violence,, but when did nintendo come out,,, 1985/6??
Can someone tell this idiot that violence existed before video games? Funny... I thought money was the root of all evil.
As for them quote unquote creating "bullies" I think that's the result of what's learned in the household. I can see a person becoming a bully because they were bullied by a sibling or something else more than I can see polygons doing it - unless that game is actually called Bully.
Everything is violent in one way or another - even Disney movies. I love when someone tries to agrue that they aren't.
As for non-violent games what is there? Tetris? Those brain teaser games? Outlaw those for "teasing" you brain! We can't have teasing anymore, let's just handicap the world and make it all sunshine and rainbows. Might as well put our kids in a padded room where nothing bad ever happens to them.
Speaking of kids, video games and laws, while I really wouldn't want a politician telling me what I can and cannot play (or what my make-believe kids could play) and all the "rights" issues I could really care less anymore now that I'm old enough to "sin" to my heart's content outside ultra-porn. That's the only thing I need a fake ID for.
Also notice he's not going after Hollywood here. Movies have been around a lot longer than games (which gives them more "clout") but the difference is I'm sure some of this contributers are in that industry ;P
Again, shouldn't have to say this but it's the parent's responsibilty to monitor this shit - not the goverment. The only reason the goverment tries to step in is because some parents aren't freakin parents. That's not a good remedy considering how goverments go about their "business." How about we tax lousy parents or people that shouldn't be parents. I could get behind that kind of legislation!
As for people getting fatter, I'm going to be cinical on this one: f--- it, people live too long anyway.
Another over-reaching tax to pay for more government we don't need. Maybe we should make Fourkiller fund these pet projects, since his name sounds so violent.
