I was thinking about getting a shelf system for the bedroom, and thinking back to the JVC-MXGT90 i used to have.
nearly 500 watts with perfect no-distortion sound, and those huge ultra-low-freq airtubes on top that would blow your nuts out of your sack if you walked in front of them

unfortunately mine broke when we were moving into our new condo 5 years ago.
..hmm,, not made anymore..

i decided to look up one of their newer ones, the HX-D77J,, 540 watts, and had those all important power tubes for ultra low frequencies.

..again,, not made anymore.

then i looked up their KABOOM series (i used to have the original in 2000. would bring it when i worked night shift at the grocery store,, would place it back by the bakery and you could hear it all the way from isles 1-22). it is still made, apparently they removed the air tubes and dropped the wattage from 52 to 40...

WTF JVC? why are you not making any awesome shelf systems anymore? your stuff blew away all the other brands.
this time i will be throwing my money towards a sony muteki system now.

Yeah, I used to be a JVC fan too, but no more, because I am no longer getting the kind of high quality products i used to! What a shame! Wonder what happened to them! sad

Wow. That thing looks like it can shoot missiles. It sucks when high-quality stuff gets discontinued or breaks. Gotta look for em on eBay now I guess.

Yeah, it's selling for 550 used and almost a grand new:

I like the idea for that kind of unit in your bedroom. I rent an apartment and I have a huge old heathkit stereo system in my bedroom that is a little overkill. A nice compact home stereo like that would save me a lot of space. Are they pretty iffy to get used? Otherwise I don't need one that fires missles, but something halfway decent that I can plug a turntable into.
