I was initially going to get a female of this species, but when the dealer/breeder told me it must be kept more humid than its desert-loving cousins, I had to make a snap decision and choose something else. So I went with a confirmed female of Brachypelma emilia (Mexican Redleg) which is another species that comes from dry desert regions like the Mexican Redknee and Mexican Fireleg.
Another plus is that this particular species is amongst the longest-lived spiders. Someone has claimed that he had a female that was probably more than 35 years old when she died.
I'm looking foward to receiving my 8-legged Methuselah (?) in about a week from now.
