Saw this tonight - pretty good way to finish off the Nolan trilogy.  Anne Hathaway gets all the best quips.

The movie soundtrack is similar to Inception's.

I think the movie will be on par with takings as Avengers box office totals tho since the movie isn't in 3D that might affect the overall total since those tickets are more expensive.

One of the best movies of the year!

We'll see if it tops Dark Knight as the best of the Nolan series, and Batman and Robin as the best overall.

Wait, what?

I probably took the biggest piss of my life after this thing was over. It took me longer than usual to get to the theater, because construction workers decided to work on the ramp I use. So I had to drive to the next ramp and sit through two lights. I walked in the theater as the trailers were starting, which I consider to be perfect timing, making the delay constructive inconvenience. An old lady with horrible perfume sat in front of me and it kept wafting my way by some sinister airstream. I couldn't move anywhere else, so I tried blowing at random intervals, to upset the airflow.

I'm glad this was only $5 (a theater in my area has $5 tickets before noon), because I don't plan to ever watch it again. I barely got through Batman Begins (I don't like the secret group/cult angle) and it took me forever to finally watch The Dark Knight. I would say The Dark Knight is the best of the trilogy because it made the most sense to me. I understand that Batman's antagonist is The Joker. This was expertly played out by Keaton/Nicholson in the first Batman movie by Tim Burton (which I saw in the theater and have watched many times since). I still consider the best Batman movie to be the first one by Burton, due to the fact I can watch it repeatedly. Nicholson is overall far more talented than Ledger, despite the fact Ledger did a good job. Nicholson's portrayal of the Joker is even better, in my opinion. It all depends on individual taste, though. I like the type of humor in Burton's movies, which is very much absent from Nolan's.

Completely avoided this thread until seeing the movie, which was today.

It's not quite up there with The Dark Knight (which itself I'd say is just a bit overrated) but is still very good.  Doesn't have the unrelenting tension of Dark Knight but to its credit isn't as convoluted either.  Obviously Heath Ledger's performance as the Joker is something you just can't compensate for in a sequel without him.

Still it's very nice to look at from start to finish (as are all of Nolan's movie) and I really liked the ending - thought it ended the trilogy perfectly.  Will definitely see it again, in Imax the second time around.

Also happy to say I totally predicted one of the big story surprises from the trailers.  Not THE big one (which anyone who's read about the comics would have known) but a big one.

I'm pretty sure that was a joke. big_smile

Saw this on Tuesday. I thought it was very good up until the lame ending. Overall, not as good as The Dark Knight, but better than Batman Begins, and certainly worth seeing.

I will concur that TDKR is a good movie...I knew going in that it probably wouldn't be as good as The Dark Knight, but was hoping that it wouldn't be another Spiderman 3, Godfather Part III, or the abomination that was Matrix Revolutions. I beg for them to leave the trilogy as it is and not make anymore from the Nolan genre, because you can make a case that it's one of the best overall trilogies out there.
