hopefully they've taken a queue from Sleeping Dogs - As much as I enjoyed the GTA games, I've never finished one...they are way long which wouldn't be a bad thing, if they had some tighter game play / controls, and accomplishable missions.  Way too many times I felt like throwing my controller down in complete frustration...Also the stories seemed a bit cheesy / trite...again, I know it's really a clone in many respects, but Sleeping Dogs gets alot right for me.  I just have fun playing through it , and actually feels like a great story developing everytime I turn it on...hopefully GTA V continues the progression

I find this kind of game just wholly unappealing.
I've TRIED liking them, but it's just not my cup of tea.

I downloaded the Sleeping Dogs demo as well recently, and it bored me to tears.
I just don't enjoy this type of sand-box game. I like the Bethesda RPGs, but games like GTA, Sleeping Dogs, Just Cause and Saint's Row etc. do nothing for me.

Laptop died, posting on a shitty phone. GTA4 is the only one I have extensive experience with, and since playing Saints Row 2, I have a much harder time going back to it. It's control scheme is a mess compared to Saints Row.

Unlike other people, I didn't have a problem with GTA4's regression to gritty realism in place of the wacky shenanigans of GTA's gone by. But for me to give two flying fucks about GTA5, they're gonna have to make those controls better, no question.

So what's this Sleeping Dogs all about? I've heard about a million good things about it so far.

No kidding huh?  Those controls...

The setting is in hong kong, you are an undercover cop and you are infultrating a local gang / crime network...you run missions for the police as well, following the story it seems your character is getting "in too deep" - actually care about the characters, the voice acting is really good - but also given a decent script...not that it doesn't have it's cliche's...

but the game play is pretty good, they tighten'd up the driving aspects, added some cool passenger missions where you shoot enemies...fighting borrows some from the recent Batman games (although I've never played those)....the setting is pretty good too, better lit etc...would liked to have tried this on a PC rig because I hear it looks really good...but plays fine on Xbox

set in Hong Kong with good voice acting? Please tell me a Cantonese voice option exists. I LOVE it when games do that.

My, that does look very pretty.

I found GTA4 to be a gigantic, well-realized bore with bad controls and a maddening mission structure. On the other hand, Red Dead Redemption was brilliant so I'm hoping they've learned from their mistakes.

(I also enjoyed the Sleeping Dogs demo quite a bit...)

I agree with Wanderer; RDR set a new standard, and I think Rockstar will be conscious of whether GTA5 is better than that game or not, but then again they don't *need* to improve upon it. It's GTA, so it'll sell like hotcakes. Hopefully graphics won't be the only thing Rockstar is keeping in mind.
