Already played through this when it was free for PS+ members a couple of weeks ago, and I loved it.
Great 80s soundtrack, classic beat-em-up gameplay. I liked it a lot better than most of the old Double Dragon games, in fact.

WayForward should be called WayBackward. They can't even think of making their own games, can they? Looks like a dumbed down and linear Street Fighter––and yes, that is what the original Double Dragon(s) may as well be too. Is it wrong for me to say that? Even if this game is good, it's still very conservative. It has modern graphics, but what more aside from 'new' enemies and whatnot? Also, the guys in this video seem to have been paid to act the way they are. Not very appetizing––perhaps this video is on EZ mode. Maybe I'll demo it, but buying it on the other hand seems out of the question. Am I not seeing something critical here?

I'm guessing the intro of the girl getting gut punched was a little too much for your taste?  Never realized that's what they were implying in the original arcade/NES game...wow!

This is a total tribute title old school gamers - some will get it, some won't.  I'm interested , but can't get past the first stage....the continue screen is hilarious and the music is pure awesomeness.

They do seem to work with existing IPs a lot, yes, but both their existing-IP-games and new-IP-games are generally well-received. Do you always judge the merits of a company by looking at videos of games you haven't even bothered to demo yet?

It's called a side-scrolling beat-em-up. Very different from Street Fighter actually.

You can say whatever you want, but it's obvious that you have no idea what you're talking about.
If you haven't even played the original games, then this is probably not for you, since it's an obvious eulogy to video games and pop-culture from the 80s in general and to the original DD series in particular.

It's a huge sigh of relief when you hear that WayForward is developing a licensed game. Not all of its games are great, but you can be assured that if it's making a licensed game, it'll be a lot better than if some shovelware company was developing. As for its own IP, the company became famous with the excellent but underutilized Shantae series and has since been getting attention with its "Mighty" series on DSiWare and eShop. Think of the company like an actor. It has to do the romantic comedies and action movies so that it can make enough money to be able to do the more interesting stuff on the side.

They're well received. Whatever that means. If you're referring to the opinion of the popular gaming public, that says absolutely nothing about the quality of a game. Why don't you actually give me your own reasons why it's good instead of just implying, "YES, IT'S GOOD."? I already know what you think. And no, I don't judge companies by videos of their games. Sometimes, I do though. A video is sometimes all I need to see that a modern game is shit. All it takes is common sense and good critical analysis skills. And demos are usually unsubstantial. Demos have only made me more reluctant to buy games in most cases. Sad, because a few really good games I've played have had awful demos!

It's called a side-scrolling beat-em-up. Very different from Street Fighter actually.

I know, dude. I'm just comparing it to Street Fighter because I think if you consider the merits of both, this one is infinitely inferior. Maybe it's good on hard mode or something, I don't know. Again, instead of presenting a good counterpoint, you misconstrue what I mean. Don't just pick mindlessly at my words!

I have no idea what I'm talking about? And why don't you quote me instead of blindly accusing me of that? And I have played the original games. But even if I hadn't, why on EARTH wouldn't this so-called 'sequel' not be for me? Are they trying to alienate new fans?! lololol. I think not. This game is for graphic whores that are too shallow for the real classics. If anything, at most this game would only make me want to play the original DDs, but not this. This game will be completely wiped off of the face of the earth in a few years. Just wait 'n see. Eulogy, pop-culture whatever. That doesn't make the game any better.
