The original Wii is pretty much done. So, I thought it might be interesting to see what are people's favorite Wii games. Feel free to rank them if you want, or just list them. Do at least give some comments as to *why* they are on your list.

As for my list... well, it's still in construction. I thought about including Twilight Princess, which I loved, but isn't that really more a GameCube game? It was after all developed for the GC, and then imported for the Wii, so I will not include it. I guess I'm really aiming for Wii exclusive games, but hey, feel free to list whatever you want. However, I certainly do think both of these deserve to be on the list:

MURAMASA: THE DEMON BLADE
Super Mario Galaxy

Muramasa is awesome! Superb music, a good challenge, multiple endings, beautiful graphics, lots of cheesecake (and not the kind you eat)...yup, it's VanillaWare smile

Super Mario Galaxy is how Mario should be! Gorgeous music, a great challenge, lots of secrets, and just plain old fun! SMG2 is also great, but personally I enjoyed the first one more, since it was, well the original, and I felt that SMG2 was more of the same. Not a bad thing at all, but just not as original, even though in some ways it was better. So, maybe I should include SMG2 in the list, but whatever, I'm too tired to think correctly now.

Hrm...

1: Xenoblade - Best JRPG of the generation, not that the competition is great but I'd put this game in with the best of any generation. Good storytelling, terrific music, amazing vistas (especially given the limited power of the console). 85 of my best gaming hours were clocked with this magnificent game and I have no regrets.

2: Super Mario Galaxy - I just replayed this sucker a few weeks ago (getting all 120 stars for the first time) and it was just as fantastic the second time as it was the first. I very much love the sequel too which did a lot of things better but there's nothing like the original.

3: Donkey Kong Country Returns - Maddeningly challenging, amazing level design, great fun. That sums up this game for me. I don't think it topples the best game in the series (Donkey Kong Country 2) but that's only because of how fierce the competition is. Only a weak soundtrack hurts it.

I had no idea. I'm both curious and a little skeptical. Do you know what the "nice additions" are? I'm skeptical because on such a small screen it seems like it might be a bit much with all the action, but then again, perhaps not.

I've heard new characters and new story arc. just from memory, i haven't followed it these past weeks. just seen the new cover art and a new piece of artwork.

I alphabetical order, my favorite Wii games are:

Castlevania: The Adventure Rebirth
-Like having a brand new SNES Castlevania game! Don't let the title fool you, this game has little to nothing in common with the Game Boy game its story is based on.

Cave Story
-A superb Metroivania style 2D action/adventure title oozing charm.

Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, The
-The first Zelda game with a well-integrated story plus all of the usual Zelda goodness, Skyward Sword was a joy!

Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, The
-Although the pacing was uneven and Skyward Sword was better, Twilight Princess is a great game well worth playing through.

Lost Winds: Winter of the Melodias
-Fixing the minor issues in its predecessor, this one was charming and fun.

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
-Sadly, I have very little memory of this game, but I remember liking it quite a bit more than the disappointing MP2, but not as much as the amazing original.

No More Heroes
-I adored this game. It's such an amazing love letter to geek culture, and I couldn't get enough of it.

Super Mario Galaxy & Super Mario Galaxy 2
-I can't decide which of these I like better, but they're both master classes in game design, and shouldn't be missed by anyone. Easily my favorite games of the generation.

Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn

I'll be the first to admit it's not a masterpiece like the GameCube Path of Radiance, but this sequel is still addicting and very fun to play! My complaint against it is that the storyline becomes a mess. Nintendo tried to make this epic by having you control four armies at different times. TONS of characters. Too many, you don't get particularly attched to them nor do they grow as the characters in Path of Radiance. Still, it's visually and aurally beautiful. The gameplay is still super-fun. There are some memorable scenes, although nothing as epic is the original fight against the Black Knight in Path of Radiance, but if you have a Wii and like such games this is a must buy.

Where to go with a topic like this, with all the great and diverse games on the Wii? Well, here's eleven greats:

Final Fantasy CC: My Life as a Darklord - fantastically addictive tower defence game, and not in quite the usual sense.

Excite Truck - so much awesome in one stunt/off-road/crazy racing game. I love the feature of putting your own MP3s on an SD card and then choosing them as custom music for the tracks.

Just Dance series - a lot of forum dwellers diss these, but they're great fun. Not all of them are exclusive to the Wii, but the Wiimote is probably the best controller for these.

Wii Party - this is for social gaming really. Virtual board games and other silly fun when you don't want to sweat it out with Wii Sports or the like.

The Last Story - Sakaguchi's fine return. Somewhat hampered by the Wii hardware, but still one of the best RPGs from the past generation, from all platforms.

Metroid Prime Trilogy - not exclusive for 1 and 2, but the controls really make a difference. It's very rare, but it's bound to only get rarer.

Wario Land: Shake It/Shake Dimension - some people say it compares unfavorably to Wario Land 4, but I find that they're equally great. Features wonderful hand-drawn 2D animation, for which you might also try A Boy and His Blob.

Rabbids Party Collection - if you want to find out what the Rabbids are about, this is best way for that, containing all the first three games. The quality is hit and miss, but there are some really worthwhile portions so the whole is a definitive positive.

Muscle March - it might not be fantastic as such, more like fabulously crazy. For the low price of 500 Wii points, this should be on all Wii consoles. Or at least most of them, so that as many people as possible can enjoy it.

No More Heroes 2 - I thought this was much better than the first one, with a streamlined map screen, great retro style minigames, and overall even more fun.

Samba de Amigo - not fully exclusive, but there's enough new content and the Dreamcast version is hard enough to obtain that it might as well be. The implementation to Wii controls isn't flawless, but it's still great fun.

That's some of the stuff to dig into. I'm still going through my Wii backlog and getting games that I missed, so even though the game releases have mostly stopped, I'm still finding games to play.
