They played a wonderful piece by Beethoven (goes without saying). Then, I heard a beautiful piece which sounded vaguely familiar. After the piece the announcer (is that the right term?) mentioned that the piece was originally released for Super Nintendo and was an orchestral arrangement from the game Chrono Trigger. I'm glad video game music is getting the respect it deserves. A few weeks ago I also heard them play music from Assassin's Creed.

Because it was released on a classical label, they play it on classical stations. It's pretty simple.

That said, it's a great disc and it's great to see the music get such exposure.

I think you're right, however that is certainly not the only game music they play.  Check this out:

I don't live in Minnesota, however public radio is fairly well connected across the country. I heard the pieces on my local public radio, and hopefully will hear more.
