...as you can probably tell. smile  If you notice any glitches or any design aspects you'd like to see tweaked post here and I'll see what I can do!

As of now the sigs feature isn't implemented but I plan on adding something along similar lines in the near future.

The new posts button... It's so fantastically big on my iPhone... I LOVE IT!

Thanks smile

James O Sep 10, 2013

I like the new design as well. smile

Is there a way to increase the size of the reply box? The new post box is big and open, but the reply box is tiny (except when you try to post before 80 seconds has passed in which case it takes you to a bigger box while you wait).

It should expand in size automatically as it gets full (assuming you have Javascript enabled).

Glad you like it, jb.  Since I only have a Galaxy you are my official iPhone tester. wink

You too, James. smile

Please email me that text file if you don't mind - dead serious. pulsephaze[at]gmail.

EDIT: PS, forums look dope, Adam!

good job. are some avatars now bigger? mine looks smaller yikes

I'm not sure what's up, but I tried replying to a post, and this forum kept crashing firefox on my linux-box.

Alcahest Sep 15, 2013

As I was discussing with Adam via email, this new design has brought the following change:
Prior to the design update, unvisited threads link font was bold. After visiting the thread, the link for that thread wasn't bold anymore until a new reply was added.
It made it instantly possible to know what thread had been viewed/updated or not in a given forum.
Now with the new design, threads link font is _always_ bold, regardless if the thread has been visited or not.
I find this to be a regression in an otherwise great design update, anyone else?

James O Sep 15, 2013

I only look for the "new posts" link when I come here.  I think that's all that's required to see if there has been anything new posted or not.

The avatars are scaled to the font size so it'll vary depending on your display and font settings.

When you click the Post Reply button at the top or bottom of a thread it runs a little javascript to open the reply box down below.  I can't imagine why that would cause a crash but I'll look into it.  In the meantime if you want to try clicking the Quote reply link instead there shouldn't be any problems.

Sorry for the late reply on this, Alcahest, I'd been out for the weekend.  I also think I misunderstood your earlier email.

Yes in the old design, only new/updated threads were in bold, whereas now all thread titles are in bold as part of the design (it makes them stand out better).  However there is a very noticeable "New Posts" indicator so it shouldn't be hard at all to find updated topics.  No?

Yes, as James O pointed out, I guess I'll just look for the "New Posts" indicator instead of primarily relying on the thread title boldness or lack of. It's just that all forums use this bold indicator for new/updated threads so intuitively I was going for that first ^^;

Don't mind testing on the iPhone, just getting around to it now. There is an issue in portrait mode where the thread subject wraps but the author does not (in the cell). Landscape mode is fine, although probably has the same issue I just don't know if anything has been long enough for it to need to wrap in landscape.

Additionally, with the new layout you would be served well by updating the logo, not sure if that's a mobile only image but the pixelation on the header is awful compared to the rest of the site and text and just looks bad on the retina display.

No other issues so far.

Adam Corn Oct 8, 2013

Sorry about the bit of spam that got posted yesterday.  I'd forgotten to adjust a few settings on the new forums to help prevent it.  Should be fixed now.

That is intentional actually, so that the rows won't expand to be too huge vertically.  It does looks a little weird though - I'll probably just remove the original poster info from the left column to save space (in mobile).

Is it a little better now?

XLord007 Oct 17, 2013

Adam, is there an issue with the "Latest Posts" feature that limits it to only being one page? I noticed that when I viewed it tonight, it only went one page and cut off at Oct 11. Then, as I started browsing the individual boards, there were new posts dating back farther that I would have missed had I only looked at the Latest Posts list.

Adam Corn Oct 21, 2013

Thanks for bringing that up, XLord.  I think it was limited to posts from the past week, actually.  Should be fixed now.  While I was at it I took the chance to add to the Latest Posts page a small but nice-to-have feature I'd been meaning to implement.

XLord007 Oct 23, 2013

Great, thanks for the fix!

Adam Corn Sep 20, 2014

That's intentional actually.  Long top pagination plus a top post link formats poorly at low res so I ditched the link.

I know jb is a a big iPhone user, are there many others here who post regularly by mobile?

I'll try to work a more convenient mobile posting method into the upcoming redesign.

I have no idea what this means, can you elaborate?

Adam Corn Sep 20, 2014

Basically there's no way to fit the pagination for forums and long threads along with a post button into one line, and it looks crappy taking up two lines, so I ditched the post link.

That's in portrait mode. It probably would fit in landscape mode but I didn't design a separate stylesheet for landscape.

I'll try to make the post link more accessible in the new design.

jb Sep 20, 2014

Oh, I see what you mean. Makes sense.
